Not much to dissect here. Boston is on a roll, winning 8 of 10. The only time they've allowed more than 2 goals in that stretch was in a shootout loss and way back in late October to Calgary. Otherwise, the defense/goaltending has been stellar. Tim Thomas should be the starter again tonight. TT has won 6 of his last 8 starts. Strangely, he was not in goal for either match-up against Buffalo earlier in the season. Both teams won at home. While Boston seems in a groove, Buffalo is anything but as goaltending and defense have been a major issue recently. The Sabres have allowed 22 goals in their last 5 games. 4 of those, losses. The PK unit might be to blame in two of those, allowing two PP goals in those games. But otherwise, it's been shaky goaltending and defense alone and not special teams. Ryan Miller (probable starter) has now gone 5 straight starts with at least 3 goals allowed. He's won just one of those starts. He was in net in Boston just over 10 days ago for the Sabres 3-1 loss to the Bruins. His other start vs. the B's resulted in a 3-2 shootout win in Buffalo. Miller does own a 12-4 record lifetime vs. BOS, but those four losses have all come in the last season + the beginning of this one. Time to get back on the winning track. The B's have it.

Glad I played this small. Freaking Manny Fernandez got the start. 7 goals in the 1st period?! Wow. Think Manny needs to get yanked while the game is still close! Sheesh.
