I haven't been able to find any official sources explaining why he is out, but it likely is a result of being run into a couple times during Saturday's game against the Leafs. He likely tweaked something and the coaches are being cautious with him.

Even with the backup in goal, have to stay with the hot team. Rangers have won their 4 home games by at least 2 goals.
