    Default No More GOALIEPOST

    Sorry Guys,

I have been asked by the creator of GOALIEPOST to stop posting the info on SBR. As I don't want to lose access to the site, I will oblige. PM me with any questions.

If you really want to be a man of the people, use a proxy server when you browse their site, using a different email than the one you use here. They won't be able to locate your IP, then post the goalies on here using a different name. I mean, if you really do care about the blue collar class.

LOL doesn't even matter to me I will post them daily. Nothing they can do about it. I just don't know how to copy and paste them all nicely like Hoff did.

No, I don't believe goalies make a difference when betting NHL.

Also, nice find with the goalies. I found one, too. It's a little mixed up, but all the information is there.

Really? Wow that's shocking. Makes a big difference sometimes especially with rusty backups playing.

www.hockeyinformer.com used to be good last year, but it seems they have abandoned daily starting goalies this year.

I've never bothered with it and done well for myself. Plus, when the backups play the line usually reflects it, so it's always priced nicely. To each their own, I suppose.

If you are betting openers it doesn't matter as much, as the lines are softer.

That sucks about Goalie Post, but I can understand. It is their business guys, looks like they have found a nice little entrepreneurship.

But I still refuse to pay the $10.

Thanks for whoever found the goalie list anyway. Needed to know about this Panthers/Lightning game.

Hey, there's another thread with the goalies too, sweet. Guess I should read the entire forum before posting.

Do you find it weak that the waitress is getting paid to bring you your food as well? Have you decided to shun a life of employment and dedicate your own life to volunteer work only?
What is wrong with some one making a buck on the time and effort they put into a website? Not to mention to offset the costs of running the website. Shouldn't people benefit from the fruits of thier labour?
He's not trying to charge $100s of dollars. It's only $10 for the whole year. If you feel they are overcharging then instead of copy and pasting the info from the site you should gather all the information yourself and post it.

GoaliePost is taking the wrong approach to many successful businesses. Right now they are creating less traffic and are probably not reaping the rewards from a plethora of people paying $10. They feel the need to restrict a person's e-rights (I know I know the internet has no real laws/rules) by telling them they cannot display the info they've purchased.

The plan that would be most valuable would be keep the site free and make money from advertising and deals setup with books that when a person signs up through GoaliePost, then GoaliePost gets X percentage of deposits. This would create continuous and possible lifelong income and allow them to continue to grow and become even more profitable.

Instead, they're thinking that everyone will come running and give them 10 bucks.

and to the HOFF, if you still would like to provide this service which many of us appreciate, ask the mods if you can just create a new account and start posting... then only the admin here would know who it is and if GoaliePost isn't happy, there's nothing they can do.

I am not affliated with goaliepost.
From the user agreement from GoaliePost "Member is expressly prohibited from redistributing or sharing the member area information with third parties" As a paying member you have agreed to this. Basically the info is yours to use but not to distribute.

I know we'll never come to a conclusion on this. This is older than Napster and bigger than Metallica. I beleive that the people who do the work or in this case, gather the work, sould be able to charge for the services they provide. Also anyone who signed on for the paid services agreed not to redistribute the info as per the user agreement (yes I know I rarely ever read them either).

Before anyone takes this personal. I do think DennisGreen is one of the better posters in the hockey forum of late cause he has offered plays with insight thus added value to the forum. I have played a few more overs and a few less unders cause of him. But I do stand on the opposite side of the fence on this subject. I have issue with subject not the poster.

Having said that, the following rant is based on several dozen threads/posters/subforums and not exclusive to this thread or posters.

Too many people on these forums are always looking for handouts. They need to be hand feed the next play or system. Instead of doing work on thier own or even adding any value of any sort to the thread they are lazy little leeches needing to be spoonfed. Many can't even go back read the original post in a thread or are unable to read 3-4 pages of a thread to learn how a system has been developed. If someone does the work, gathers the info and/or creates the plays/systems and posts them only looking for feedback or a warm fuzzy feeling, then more power to them. If they instead are looking to sell or trade the product of thier time and labour then I think that should be respect as well. I am a firm believer in that people should be rewarded for the work they do whether it be $$ or warm fuzzies all over.
In this case just pay the $10 if you appreciate having the info handed to you on a platter and not having to scour the net for it yourself. For those you trying to help other by posting the info, have some respect of the wishes by the people behind goaliepost. Encourage others to sign up instead. Or share other sources that are still free such as the post started by keyboarding.

Well said Blargh you make good points. I have no problem paying them $10, it is still good value. A lot of the goalie information is from third parties, guys who help them out too. So maybe they should be giving them a cut of the money they make. As far as not sharing the info with third parties there really is no way they can prove it is from their site. One could simply post the probable goalies, make up a fake source and time and it wouldn't even matter. With all this being said though I guess we are missing the point that goaliepost.com is a great site for fantasy hockey and sports betting so by all means everyone should buck up and pay the $10.

It's true. I made similar comments, just not as aggressive.

The reality is there are enough guys on here with enough time and incentive to use the sources I posted to find out starting goalies. I disagree with paying for a service that gives information widely (and I mean widely) available though. If you really want to make money then load the page up with advertisements. But, like you said, a discussion that has no right or wrong.

I'll message a moderator and see if we can get this thread stickied: http://forum.sbrforum.com/hockey-han...e-sources.html

I think HOFFs threads actually help out Goalie Post. I never heard of Goalie Post until I saw his thread, and now they have my 10 bucks.
