Yeah the owners are greedy pricks. Revenue has increased but these pricks want more money and Bettman will obviously side with the owners over the players. Hopefully just a month max of lockout and nothing more. The games really improved over the last few years would hate to see all that growth go to waste

its not all the owners fault. tv ratings have gone up (from their previously dismal level), but hockey tv viewership is still dead last by a longshot relative to the other 3 major sports. they rely mainly on ticket sales for revenue. the big market clubs like the rangers, montreal, boston, etc. are fine. but the smaller market teams are struggling. I think hockey is the best sport in the world. But in the US (especially in the south) nobody watches it. Hockey doesn't generate the same revenue that the NFL, NBA, and MLB does. that's why the players make less. It isn't just greedy owners. Nobody watches hockey anymore. it's a damn shame.

Yup you are right. Bettman needs to stop keeping hopeless franchises alive and let them move to markets that will financially support them though. Phoenix and Florida are absolute jokes. When you're charging $20 for tickets and still not selling out there's no hope to turn a profit.

Also regarding TV broadcasting it's not rocket science. Eliminate teams or move them to Canada where people will actually watch. The league is watered down enough these days with scrubs so cutting 5 or so teams would be good to focus only on the sustainable markets.
