2012 Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup Thread!

Last year's run fell just short losing in game 7 in the finals against the Boston Bruins. I think this year's team is even better.

    canucks april 8.jpg

LA Kings are a good team with a great goalie. The first round is usually the place for an upset but I don't see one happening here. Vancouver has played its best hockey of the entire season the least couple weeks and look primed to go all the way. This year they are a more complete team showing that they can win the free wheeling high scoring games as well as the low scoring tight checking ones.

    CANUCKS in 6

    Second year in a row.

    Go Canucks go!

DFG, didn't we start the thread off the exact same way last year?
I can't see then not goiong to the finals again. They are clearly the best team in the West and baring injuries they will get their and play ..... Pittsburgh? Re-match of the 1994 finals against the Rangers?

Pretty sure we did Yup the West is definitely ours to lose we are the best team. Will be a greasy first round vs the Kings but I like the Canucks in 6 as well. The East is Pittsburgh's to lose as well in my opinion. Can't wait until Wednesday!

VAN should beat LA in 6 or 7 but don't think they'll beat CHI if they meet in the 2nd round. Going to game 2 as well, in freshly bought Kings gear.

Not enough grit Weak division has made them look better than they are, one round and done this year.

Should be a dull, low scoring first round.

Dennis, if they get the goaltending they can make it to the finals, but aren't you a little worried about the scoring/power play?

I agree goals will be sparse, going to go under in game 1 unless the juice is really out of hand.

Yeah the PP struggled down the stretch but they got a couple in the last game. Mildly concerned about the PP. Canucks can play either run and gun or a tight defensive game so I think they will be fine with a tight, greasy style of game.

Canucks don't have the heart to win it! Didn't they show that last year? Must be hard rooting for a gutless bunch of pussies all year!

what are you, 10? They lost in game 7 in the finals of the toughest sports championship in the world. Are your Bruins going all the way this year? I doubt it. When they get knocked out this year, I doubt you will say they have no heart and are a bunch of gutless pussies.

Typical Bruin fan. Won only a handfull of playoff games in the last 40 friggen years and finally win one and suddenly they are a power house. The Leafs won more playoff games in the last 40 years than Boston. LOL. Heart? Pussies? you don't know the meaning of the words

you obviously never watched the series. It went 7 games. Vancouver shoutout Boston 2X and Kessler was injured. Those are facts. Boston deserved to win. They had an unbelievably hot goalie which ended up being the difference. 4 games to 3.

You obviuosly didn't watch the series. The Canucks totally out played them till the bruins got really physical with them. Once that happened they had no answer. Like they went into a shell.... Cried about it and blew it. In my book that's called pussies. Remember Luongo crying about Tim Thomas getting all the attention? Again pussy. I would be ashamed to root for a team like that and still be embarrassed about losing that series. Instead of making posts glorifying pussies why don't you sit back and watch before you embarrass yourselves again.

I doubt the bruins will make it that far again.....I doubted they would make it that far last year....but at least they are a team who stands up for each other, doesn't dive to try to get a powerplay, and a team that doesn't back down to a fight. That's a team to be proud of. Unlike the crying flopping pussy Canucks.

I ain't gonna fight with you. There are a lot of Bruins fans that aren't classless and I can have intelligent discussions with. I congratulated Boston fans when they won and I have been a Bruins fans all my like. I can be objective whereas it obvious you cannot. You don't even know the meaning of pussy or pretend not to. I know you are jealous of the Vancouver team even though you will deny it.

Rome hit was late and it was high. and it was blindside. Sure Horton shouldn't have admired his pass, but high hits to the head and late hits are still against rules.

You think Burrows biting bergeron's finger was "clean" too?

let me guess... you're going to defend the biting by burrows.

What about all the diving embellishing and whining by everyone on the canucks? gonna defend that too?

there was a reason everyone wanted boston to win last year. How can you root for a whiney, whimpy, embellishing, diving team that bites people like vancouver?

hockey216, I really don't want to argue with you anymore. We can go on all day back and forth about last years final re your sweet innocent Bruins and my bad Canucks. You can say your things like you just did and I can say the spearing and the punching in the head to the Canuck players that the refs never called. No one is gonna convince the other.

Everyone didn't want Boston to win and they aren't the saints to attempt to make them out to be. Just Just remember Chara's hit in Montreal where he almost killed a guy and then you wanna whine about Burrows biting some guys finger as he shoved it in his face? I would have bit his finger also. Congrats on your team winning it but most understand that this is the hardest tournament in the world to win and shit is gonna happen.

The bite was freakin' hilarious. Not sure why people in Boston are crying and comparing it to basically pulling a Mike Tyson and ripping Holyfield's ear off. I'm not a fan of the diving but most teams do it to some extent. This is hockey not MMA where everyone has to prove how big of men they are.

The Rome hit was barely late and he hit his head with his shoulder. Could he and should he have laid off and not hit Horton yes, but he didn't and Horton was partially to blame for not keeping his head up. If his head was up he would likely have avoided the hit. Hockey is a contact sport you gotta always be aware of your surroundings. If that would have been McQuaid hitting a Sedin in the same spot there he would have been given the key to the city in Boston and you know this.

I was hoping for a Van City win last year, but they got absolutely destroyed every game in Boston. Then worst of all they lose game 7 in their own rink to a team that they were much stronger than on paper.

Luongo will be on a short leash this playoffs, and if he gets blamed for this year's loss, he will most certainly never live it down.

Oh well, only 9 more years under contract hahaha

Chara's hit in montreal? Chara initiated hit alongside boards. Pacioretty was skating fast and tried to skate through the check, thats why he went into glass. Pacioretty skated into glass himself. Chara initiated hit long before. Pacioretty ran into glass because he was trying to skate through the check. He should have stopped and braced himself for hit, not use his momentum to run into the pipe himself. Not charas fault. Critics say he initiated the hit right along the pipe. Not true. I uploaded photo to prove it.

    chara hit.jpg

Also not chara's fault that NHL uses those walls along the boards. If ppl think they are unsafe, take them down, or institute rule about hitting close to them. Dont blame Chara bc the boards are unsafe. Chara delivered legal check along boards, and pacioretty foolishly tried to skate through it, failed, and skated himself into the pipe. If you think league office needs to make a change, then tell them to make a change. Not players fault that league puts those walls up.

Chara never had the intent to injure Pacioretty. Yes chara is tough during gametime. But hes not a dirtbag, and is a very classy guy. He is very mature, soft-spoken, calm in nature. He logs almost 30 minutes a night and delivers lots of hits. how many of them are replayed because they are dirty? not many.

And regardless, Pacioretty skated into the pipe himself. this whole incident was blown way out of proportion. Initial point of contact was like 5 feet from the pipe. Pacioretty was skating fast, tried to skate through the check (big mistake) and skated into the glass and injured himself. If Pacioretty stopped, took hit, he never would have come close to running into that pipe. If he braced himself for hit right there, the hit would have ended 5 feet away from it. Look at photo and observe initial point of contact. Not Chara's fault that pacioretty tries to skate through the hit and into the pipe like an idiot after he gets hit. And all of it happened so fast. Chara was angling him to boards to deliver hit so his team could win puck possession. At initial time when angling started and hit delivered, they were so far from pipe that it was unforseeable.

And lets not forget that as soon as Pacioretty returned, he almost immediately got suspended 3 games for a high hit to the head on Letang. So the "poor baby" argument isnt getting much sympathy from me.
