Default Sam Gagner 8 pts Night

Ties Gretzky and Coffey for Oilers record for most points in a game. Last 8 point game in the NHL was Lemiux in 89.

    Unbelievable.

TSN named him the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd star of the game.

I'm a Season seat holder, but I've sold most of my tickets. I can deal. What a great night for us Oiler fans. Although Gagner will never be a #1C, at least he's showing enough to be a legit #2C even with his flaws (size/speed). Although he is quicker now than years past. People never seem to realize this is his 5th NHL season and even when it ends he will still be only 22. I find that somewhat mind boggling. Once his consistency issues are somewhat solved, we (EDM) will have an extremely formidable top six.

    Crazy in today's NHL.

That's 10% of what the leading scorer will have...

I was listening this this game and also on Oilers ML.

The announcer was going crazy. Some woman had a chance to win $1,000,000 if he scored 5 goals.

Been saying that as well... I thought he was 24 actually, and thought he was in the league since 19... like you said, 5th year in, and still 22...

The game was being aired on TSN. The 5 goal 1-million Safeway give-away is only on Sportsnet.

It's not specific to just Sportsnet.

Jack Michaels has mentioned it on the radio previously and again did last night.

Lemiux had 3 8 point games in one season. Crazy. Plus a 7 point game.

Never thought Gagner would make the NHL at 18/19, similar to Jeff Skinner - very small at the time but still managed to make the team out of camp.

What I found cool was that Pat Kane was sitting on the other bench, his former linemate in London. In 2006 those two tore up the OHL, and both made NHL rosters the next year.

He said he had about 60 texts last night and about 50 more this morning. Including messages from Gretzky and Coffey.
