Keeping Track of a System...
I've come accross a pretty simple system that is 20 - 4 so far this NHL season..... Not sure if this will keep up but I'll post some plays to see how it goes:
1/6
Chicago -135 (at Phoenix)
San Jose -140 (at Calgary)
Detroit -1.5 / -105 (vs Columbus)
**Really supposed to take Detroit ML but it's -290... We'll see.

It's obviously not just as easy as picking top teams ... it's about "Picking Spots".
For the record, I never said that I know the first thing about betting Hockey or that this system was Brilliant. All I said was that it's 20-4 so I thought I'd track it on here.
If it ends up doing terrible I'll stop posting the plays but if it's 80% why wouldn't I share??

What I am trying to say is 80% of the people are already betting on these picks.
Hockey is a game that doesnt use any systems but you have to know the game. If you dont know the game then you will go broke.

With due respect , a person could not know the game and have a system that works. I'm not here to defend or attack anyone that uses a system. His works for him, I'm glad , the fact he's willing to share his picks is appreciated . Instead of doing what you're doing, why not be appreciative/grateful/thankful another poster is posting hockey selections - since there aren't very many here. Roll on baby boy, roll on.

I just wasted 57 dollars for boredoms sake.
Just placed a 6 team parlay for 57 bucks(had an odd 57 in my account balance so what the hell)
Philly +140
Detroit -300
Boston -220
Nashville -145
tor over 6 +105
pitt over 6 -130
57 for roughly 1600

haha It's pretty funny how people are quick to judge. Once again, I have nothing to prove and I'm NOT saying that this is a Great Revolutionary System. All I said was it's Simple and it's been hitting 80%. Will it stay that way?? Probably not. But why attack me for trying to put something out there to 'help' people pick winners?
I pick the better of the 2 teams? haha If you make a habit out of picking the worst NHL teams you'll probably go broke quicker than I will.
For the record... I'm playing these pretty small. Testing this out. If you want to FADE me go ahead.

I think some missed what I was saying. Usually if you use a system it helps you pick obscure teams or games that you wouldnt normally bet on. Not 3 teams with a combined record of 76-35. You could have bet these 3 teams all year and hit for nearly 70%.

seanjohn - i'm going to withhold the actual system info until I prove it a bit further. If it keep up at this pace I'll definitely post more info! I'll probably keep me from getting ridiculed. haha I'll post the plays and let them do the talking.
Tonight
San Jose -180 at Edmonton x 2
This is dangerous for me since i'm only +60 but San Jose must have revenge on their mind due to the loss suffered to the Oilers at Home on 12/6... 3-2 in OT.

laying chalk on the road again? this is the most biased line on the board. sj has the slightest edge like 51/49. give me edmonton the home dog.
what is your system? are you polling kids you play nhl09 against on xbox live to pick a winner?
systems usually determine the exact opposite of the the plays that your system does. systems normally find value in a line.
that being said, sj -180 could be a play if the fair market line was greater than -200 or so. but the fair market line on this game is almost a pk.
besides roloson is solid against the sharks.
best of luck

I will be laying chalk on the road a lot. Maybe it isn't the way to go and if I lose over the next month I'll stop making the plays. Until then I'll post and you can make fun. haha
The system has something to do with RPI / schedule patterns / trends and "value" in the sense that a team is truly better than it's opponent regardless of location. So at home SJ would be -280 (using my own calculations) but on the road they are -180... there's value in that to me.
This sounds dumb to a lot of you Hockey guys... but i'm new and this is working for me at the moment.

I did the calculation from your spreadsheet and if you bet all the plays there to win 1 unit (except for tonight you bet 2) - through tonight's action you'd be +14 units. (You did leave one line out on 11/29 so I assumed you played the +1.5/-240)
Keep posting your picks! You're 23-5! Let people make fun all they want. I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Good job so far bud. NHL is hard as fcuk to predict, as huge favorites lose more regularly than NFL or NBA.

3 - 1 +260 Not a bad start! I new SJ had some 'revenge' on their minds in Edmonton ; )
The next play in the system is New Jersey at LA. Now the system calls to bet the PL (+1.5 / -290).
I'm debating on betting the ML at -110... simply because 290 is pretty high... We'll see.
**Also, as I said before gentlemen... NHL is new to me so I'd appreciate any suggestions on 'Filters' for the system. I'm wondering if Injuries play as big of a role as they do in other sports. You have at least 3 full lines that play a lot of time. How much time on Average is the "Starting Line" on the Ice??? I'm thinking an Injury the the #1 Goalie will be a Definite filter. Maybe playing Back to Back nights.... THOUGHTS??

OK... Here we go. The puck is about to drop and I've got NJ -290 / +1.5. It's a lot but I went with what the system calls for. If +1.5 is available for your team... take it. Otherwise it's ML.
Good Luck Gentlemen!!

Hmm...I'ma going to watch that (Yes, I know it's already started).
Now, do you ONLY bet with using your system? Or do you also look at other games? I know you said you're not a hockey buff, I'm just curious.
I went w/ Columbus, Nashville, Pitts, and NYR today.

The play tonight is Chicago -245. They just lost at Nashville last nigt I believe and now come home to get revenge. Sullivan is back for Nashville. What do you guys think about this matchup? Any reason NOT to take this game???

I live in Chicago and Eddy O was on the radio speaking highly of the Blackhawks and tonights game..... they have had many opps over the last two games and did not bury the puck in the net..... however, tonight at home they will....
Plus the goalies for the hawks are two playoff caliber net tenders

Well... Vegas apparently does not mess around with the NHL. Laying a lot of chalk tonight on another big favorite..... -245 on Chicago. I wish I could get a better price but it's locked in.

Looking at Detroit -185 vs. Dallas tomorrow night. Lots of trends in this one including a huge win streak for the redwings. I'll take a closer look and post an official play tomorrow if there is one!!

JohnMorr, keep up the GREAT work! I am a huge system guy and you have proven in your NBA thread that THAT system works. I find it quite amusing how some of these "know-it-alls" just don't get what a system does for you. Mainly, a system takes out all emotion and leaves it to numbers.
Numbers, when done right, will ALWAYS win out over emotion and judging certain factors.
As an example..a number of us screwed ourselves on a good win yesterday by NOT taking the Magic because we went EMOTIONALLY with another bet that honestly did not make much sense.
Anyway, I will be following you on these and I really appreciate you putting forth the effort here. Between YOU and CK there should be a lot of guys doing well. But I will tell you this, I am a system bettor and have been so for a long time. When a system says make a play....you make the play even though you might see things that go against that play....just like yesterday.
