Round 2 ~ Therber vs TheGenix ~
Here are the updated rules for the 16 man contest~
- each player will start with a bankroll of 60 units per round. you will be allowed to bet 30% of your bankroll on sundays, and 15% on any other days. ie, i have 72 units going into a sunday, i can man make up to 22 (round up from 21.6 units) units wagered that day. all bets must be minimum of 1 unit. you must make a minimum of 15 plays per round. **see below edit made for final day % allowed.
- we will be using the opening line from sbr as our lines. we are only allowed to bet the side or total of a game vs the spread/total. no moneyline wagers and all bets are -110 per 100 bet. if the opening line is way off from the closing on sunday (due to injury etc) we still use whatever sbr has listed as the opener. part of being a good capper is finding weak lines and pouncing.
- it is up to you to keep track of your records. i am not an official scorekeeper. though anyone can catch a mistake and let me or the participants know. after each day, there should be an updated unit total in each thread. if a player breaks the daily % rule, then we subtract the units he went over from his most recent play posted. (ie, you're allowed 20 units, but have bet 22 - your last bet posted was jets for 3 units. that play is now adjusted to jets 1 unit so please use a calculator and pay attention to what your opponent is posting. you must catch % rule mistakes before the next set of games begin on an upcoming day. errors on lines/totals can be corrected at any time during the round, but we wont worry about how that change affetced the total % allowed since it can get too confusing depending on how far we go back for a correction.
- plays must be posted 5 minutes before the start of any game. daily % total cant be adjusted going into night games. it is what it is going into that day.
- if there happens to be a tie after the round is over, the player with the best % will move on. if there is still a tie, then both players move onto the next round in a 3 way contest.
- once down to 0 units, you are toast.
- though we will start each round over at 60 units, we will reseed each round based on the total number of units accumulated for each player. win % for that round is used as a tiebreaker for units. ie, going into round 3, we would total the units from round 1 and 2, then reseed. round 1 will be drawn from a hat.
- the winner of the tournament gets cocknocker from oakland during the entire playoffs. there will be a min of 10 plays for the round. the 2 will start with 50 units during the playoffs, and can bet up to 20% of your roll each day. however, on superbowl sunday you may only bet 10% of your roll.
Round 2: 10/11-11/2
Round 3: 11/8-11/30
Round 4: 12/3-1/3
To eliminate someone getting lucky on the final day, the % will be lowered on the last day of each round:
round 2 (final day is monday 11/2 - only 10% is allowed on that day)
round 3 (final day is monday 11/30 - only 10% is allowed on that day)
round 4 (final day is sunday 1/3 - only 20% is allowed on that day)

*added rule - on the last day of each round, the guy in the lead must post his plays first (if he has any) that way we eliminate the possibility of someone being a jerk and just taking what the guy trailing has played.
sort of an added bonus for the leader to take what he wants rather then be put in an awkward position.
once the picks are made my both parties, they cant be switched (but you can still add more plays, units etc)
you like this idea therber?

Not exactly. I said at the end of the last round I was glad that shoe was genuinely on the Packers and me on the Vikings; however, if he was on the Vikings too, and had a default trailing win I wouldn't say the leader was being a jerk.
I proposed ending the contest on a Sunday. NOT a Monday. It becomes much less about the game, and more about simply beating the other guy if you end it on that Monday. The problem with this of course is that it exclude MNF so I am not sure what the solution is.
Yes the MNF final day is awkward; your idea makes sense. We can go with that if you want. I don't really have a better idea. Question though: how does the Monday underdog know that the leader isn't going to post real close to game time? I think if you want to go by the rule the underdog must get a PM confirmation of a go ahead. This is messy...

Genx,
I noticed you have a few spreads wrong. It is my understanding that we are supposed to use the SBR opening line, not the current line. Your lines should be:
Ten +1
StL +10
Buff -7
NE -4
I only noticed because I'm on the opposite side of Tenn and NE.

Therber2,
I see you made the same mistake and are not using the opening line. Your lines should be:
Rams +10
Bills -7
Ravens -9
Denver +4
Redskins/Panthers u37.5
Atlanta +3
Kansas City +9
Seattle +3
Panthers -6
Good Luck to you as well!

if the guy in the lead is taking a long time to post his final days plays, the guy trailing can always PM me the play if they have to go out etc.

Don't know where you got these lines. I am using default SBRodds settings. The lines I have listed are correct. Can't change them now.

Yeah I figured you were using a default or something you picked. For me the default is thegreek. I am fine with the lines that you picked. They are set. I say leave them. You "pounced" on your lines and I did mine. They are set in stone after that.
***After today though we will be using these odds:
http://www.sbrodds.com/#/odds/nfl/wh...adntotals.html
This wasn't stated clearly in the rules in our thread, but I guess it is being amended now. Dexter, can you post that link in our thread so it is clear please?

Actually your lines are wrong. The lines I posted for you are correct. The rules are clearly stated in the first post of this thread from Dexter.
If you click on the link at the top of the page that reads "Live Odds" and go to "NFL Football Odds" It brings up current odds from 10 different book. If you look at the column left of the teams, there is a column titled "Opener". That is the line we are supposed to be using for this competition.

Fair enough. Read my last post. Today me and Genix will use the odds we saw. What you mention here is not clearly stated in THIS thread; however, I will abide to this AFTER today. Okay?

Thanks for the help SoonerGreg. A lot of people in this contest I think have been using opening lines at the "_______" (say theGreek). Genix is using Bookmaker. I can't explain why, but the default for SBRodds.com is the opener at one particular book NOT concensus. I actually like concensus closers better; however, I was unaware until Dex PM'ed me today.
I told Dex that me and Genix will go with the openers that you listed rather than the "default" openers for today, and from now on. If you guys feel as if I should forfeit I will do so, and hand my spot over to Shoe (does he know about the "consensus openers" by the way? He and I have always had the same lines so I am assuming he was doing what I was doing.

when you bring the lines up look at the top left and if you are logged in just log out of that and it will show the opener that everyone uses.

Why not just tell us what book we use set our option to?
I'm not really sure what to do with the week because I saw values in the lines I was seeing which were apparently the wrong lines. A verdict about what to do was never reached before I had time to re-evaluate. Not sure how to continue with this week...

Don't get your panties in a wad, I never said you should forfeit the competition. I simply pointed out there was a mistake in the lines both you and Genix posted to help eliminate confusion. Your statement about both of you using the same opening lines is completely inaccurate.
*You had the Bills at -5.5 and Genix had the Bills at -6.
*You had the Broncos +3 and Genix had the Pats at -3.5
Since the Broncos line was actually +4, that resulted in another win for you instead of a push.
