Default VIP Sports - Baseball Bankroll Contest - Wednesday, September 06th - Picks Here

    VIP Sports Baseball Bankroll Contest

    RULES:

    • All participants must establish a VIPsports.com account with a minimum $50 balance and send their VIP account number to moderator bigboydan by email at bbd@sbrforum.com.

Click HERE to open your VIPsports account now.

    • All contestants must have at least $50 real money in their VIPsports.com account prior to entering this contest.

    • 5x rollover and normal VIP Sports bonus terms and conditions apply to all prizes.

    • Contestants will be required to pick a MINIMUM of 10 games but NO MORE THAN 20 games each month. Three plays max per day, against the MLB Money Line (sides and totals) as established by VIP Sports and as posted each morning in the official contest thread.

    • Each pick will be graded as a one (1) base unit play against the ML and will be scored appropriately. If you post an incorrect line it will be graded as a loss. If your post is edited in any fashion ALL selections will be graded as a loss. Selections that are past posted will be graded as a loss also.
    Examples:
    • Florida Marlins WIN at +126 = 1.26 units ADDED to contestant’s “bankroll”
    • Florida Marlins LOSE at +126 = 1.00 unit SUBTRACTED from contestant’s “bankroll”
    • Atlanta Braves WIN at -119 = 1.00 unit ADDED to contestant’s “bankroll”
    • Atlanta Braves LOSE at -119 = 1.19 units SUBTRACTED from contestant’s “bankroll”
    • All bets have action regardless of changes in starting pitcher.

    • All contestants start with a monthly “bankroll” of $0 … the three largest “bankrolls” at the end of each month qualify for monthly prizes. The largest total “bankroll” at the end of the regular season qualifies for the Grand Prize.

    • Assuming VIP Sports account conditions and all contest rules are met (as described above), contestants may enter this contest at any time during the season and remain eligible for both monthly prizes as well as the Grand Prize. However, as this is a bankroll building contest, contestants who play the maximum number of 20 games each month for the entire season may have a stronger opportunity to win prizes.

    • Check your selections carefully before posting. The rules stated above regarding edited/past posting will be strictly enforced.

    • Either SBR or VIPsports.com may deny entry or prizes for any contestant with out cause and rules may be modified without prior notice.

Click HERE to open your VIPsports account now.

It's been several days, but find a need to weigh in on this issue ... manly was penalized for making 2 winning picks but posted the incorect line ... It is clear to me that these were legitimate winners but he made a mistake in posting the line ... The rules clearly state that that such an infraction will be graded as a loss so I have no issue with that ... I have an issue with the rule itself.

This pillow fight has been nip and tuck throughout and it is catostrophic to go from a +2.00 to a -2.30, a change of 4.30 for an infraction that has no connection to selecting a winner.

Is this a contest of selecting winners or a combination of selecting winners and someones proficiency in scrolling up and down and typing in the correct line? ... Mistakes happen, but in several cases that I have seen, honest mistakes, but plain as day what selection the contestant made.

There has been no other contest that I can think of on here that severely punishes plain simple mistakes ... Earlier in the contest I edited a post to add an additional selection rather than make an additional post ... My mistake as my winner was graded as a loss ... I had made 2 edits that I can think of in previous contests (NBA and Beat The Prick) to change a pick before the deadline ... There were no rules against editing or punishment for posting an incorrect line.

In this contest there is a master list of the selections and the lines at the top of the page and the picks are graded against them ... If the moderator has to check everyones lines to see that they are correct, then I would think it would save him some time and effort if we just posted our picks and if we played the over or under, the runs, without posting the lines.

I'm not suggesting we go back and correct every mistake that was made here but in the future not penalize a contestant for clearly making a correct pick but an error in typing a line.

Honest mistakes shouldn't be graded as losses as they affect the outcome of a contest ... The maximum that should have been assessed here is that picks maybe should have been dq'ed and just counted on the pick total.

he could have been looking at the odds below but what I think was he had the line odd changes in mind and didn't make the neccessary adjustment.

Like Angels under 9, he could have looked at the Minnesota game o/u odds was -105. And the other game there was an odd 2 games below -110. Sheit happens but it's stone walled in the rules.

In the future though and I think that's the juice of what Kdmfox was trying to input to this great contest, is to eliminate minor odd posting flaws. And if I can tweak Kdmfox's input a bit, make it so that if it's just a +/- of just
.005. Or even the + and - sign. Those should be forgiven.

Anyways keep posting winners manly if you're reading this.

I need to weigh in on this one as well, it seems everyone is getting a little testy as we close to the end of this contest, we have all plodded along for 6 months and now it seems every little issue that occurs becomes a problem. I think we all need to remember that this is a free contest to enter, there is still basically a month left and 5 people can conceiveably win this. KDM i do agree that those 2 losses for Manly were tough losses, but as you and BigDaddy both stated it is clearly in the rules. I'm sure we have all had losses occur due to misposts, edits, web site being down, etc during the past 6 months, but what makes his stand out is the timing of it. I think clear, definite rules are needed in these contests to squash any debates, plus if there weren't strict rules the moderators would go crazy trying to police everything. Perhaps the rule gods at SBR can look into this for future contests. just my 2 cents. Best of luck to everyone

I was merely stating my opinion on this issue ... I'm not interested in finishing ahead of anyone on this or any other contest because of an error that had no relation to the selection itself ... It's not what the contest is about.

Refresh my memory ... Isn't manly the competitor you said had more common sense than the rest of us, you declared the winner and congratulated? ... Given that, I would imagine you'd have a bit softer stance on this issue ... Now that this unfortunate event occurred it does give you renewed hope after you packed it in.

I haven't quite got the point where I analyze everyones picks and why they made them or have I spent any time going "over and over" to see where he got to where he got on the line mistake ... May I suggest you get out a bit more?

you seem to be the one analyzing every contest first it was beat the prick now this one let them run it and you make picks. yes manly i thought was smart but he made a mistake i dont see him bitching about it? so why do care? and like i stated its nots the first time it happened to someone probally wont be the last so stop bitching about every contest at SBR you seem to be the one thats needs to get out? you remind me of the guy on tv last years WSOP crying because the table wouldn't slow play until a guy got back tohis seat so he wouldn't be blinded out LOL

stump ... I'm in total agreement with you ... I was not attacking the mods for doing what they did ... Rules are rules and they are pretty black and white now and have been changed to be clearer as issues arise ... A rule was infringed upon here, and should not be reversed as plenty of us have been had the same things ... I'm merely saying that it seems like an unfair rule that may or may not have a bearing on contest results and should be looked at in the future.

    kdm,

i hear you, and i did not think you were attacking anyone, all i'm saying is that the timing of his mistake stinks, but you can't go back and change things now. i agree with you 100% that the object here is to pick winners and not get penalized for a technicality, so hopefully in the future this will not occur. Best of luck to everyone
great post and i agree thats why the mods here runa good show as they have strict rules and enforce them

kdm sorry for getting testy i just think its best if rules are in place makes things run smooother IMO lets have a good ending to this and best of luck to everyone!

Thanks to all for their concern with the issue.

If I was a fellow contestant, I would be wondering just how this happened TWICE in the same day to someone who was leading the contest. This fact would definitely raise questions in my mind, as one "mistake" is unthinkable enough, especially when someone has gone the whole season to date without doing this.

Wow, A whole 2 issues and and I'm a bad guy on every contest ... These contests are relatively new and there are lots of things to be tweaked ... As for the Beat The Prick contest we have divergent opinions ... You seem to think that sending the sponsor $100 EVERY time you win is fabulous and a great deal ... When I win, I'd like the flow the other way ... I'd like to think my "bitching" either changed the rule or helped change it ... Feel free to send them $100 each time if that's your pleasure ... There are many around that applauded that change for reasons that are obvious ... Thanks CRIS and Prick.

Well, back to work and my boss and his stupid rules.

well my position on that is if you gamble and think sending $100 to get a $200 bonus with a 3x rollover is a bad deal IMHO you should stop gambling as you have no chance of winning long term thinking that way. That is JMO

BTW thanks for getting it changed your efforts did not go unnoticed

also hope you took mansion up on the offer as they ended it today but that probally wasnt a positvie expectation?

Illusion and ganchrow ... Sorry to clutter up the Picks thread with banter but I thought the baseball contest thread was where this belonged ... Do we have 2 picks threads going today?

Two picks threads are going, but I will merge them. Also, I have no trouble with the ongoing discussion, go ahead and speak your minds fellas.
