VIP Sports Baseball Bankroll Contest


RULES:

• All participants must establish a VIPsports.com account with a minimum $50 balance and send their VIP account number to moderator bigboydan by email at bbd@sbrforum.com.

• All contestants must have at least $50 real money in their VIPsports.com account prior to entering this contest.

• 5x rollover and normal VIP Sports bonus terms and conditions apply to all prizes.

• Contestants will be required to pick a MINIMUM of 10 games but NO MORE THAN 20 games each month. Three plays max per day, against the MLB Money Line (sides and totals) as established by VIP Sports and as posted each morning in the official contest thread.

• Each pick will be graded as a one (1) base unit play against the ML and will be scored appropriately. If you post an incorrect line it will be graded as a loss.

Examples:
• Florida Marlins WIN at +126 = 1.26 units ADDED to contestant’s “bankroll”
• Florida Marlins LOSE at +126 = 1.00 unit SUBTRACTED from contestant’s “bankroll”
• Atlanta Braves WIN at -119 = 1.00 unit ADDED to contestant’s “bankroll”
• Atlanta Braves LOSE at -119 = 1.19 units SUBTRACTED from contestant’s “bankroll”

• All contestants start with a monthly “bankroll” of $0 … the three largest “bankrolls” at the end of each month qualify for monthly prizes. The largest total “bankroll” at the end of the regular season qualifies for the Grand Prize.

• Assuming VIP Sports account conditions and all contest rules are met (as described above), contestants may enter this contest at any time during the season and remain eligible for both monthly prizes as well as the Grand Prize. However, as this is a bankroll building contest, contestants who play the maximum number of 20 games each month for the entire season may have a stronger opportunity to win prizes.

• Check your selections carefully before posting. Once an entry has been submitted, it may not be edited for any reason. Edited posts may result in disqualification.

• Either SBR or VIPsports.com may deny entry or prizes for any contestant with out cause and rules may be modified without prior notice.

PRIZES:

Monthly Prizes

$300 – The largest “bankroll” at the end of each month during the regular MLB season will receive a $300 betting account at VIPsports.com, subject to all terms and conditions above.

$200 – The second highest “bankroll” at the end of each month during the regular MLB season will receive a $200 betting account at VIPsports.com, subject to all terms and conditions above.

$100 – The third highest “bankroll” at the end of each month during the regular MLB season will receive a $100 betting account at VIPsports.com, subject to all terms and conditions above.

Season-Ending Grand Prize

Trip for Two to Curacao (valued at $4,000.00)*
The contestant with the single highest season-ending “bankroll” for all months combined during the regular MLB season (and having met all contest rules described above) will qualify to win an all-expenses paid trip for two to the Caribbean island of Curacao, with airfare and 5 nights deluxe accommodations courtesy of VIPsports.com.

In addition to airfare and hotel accommodations, the Grand Prize includes:
- $1000 (USD) cash spending money
- Airport-Hotel transportation
- Celebration dinner party with representatives from both VIP Sports and SBR
(In lieu of the trip for two, the grand prize winner may opt to accept a $2500 betting account at VIP Sports, subject to 3x rollover and normal VIP Sports bonus terms and conditions.)

What happened to the "no editing" rule?

It was never enforced throughout the month, even when the mod in charge of grading edited his posts (to take some off the board.) Nor were those that were told to post lines and failed given losses. IMO, if you haven't enforced the rules the first 29 days, pretty difficult to start on the last day. (Both of the last two posts were edited, one just did it fast enough to not have it register on-screen. So my position relative to Ganchrow would be unchanged.)

If MrX was given $200 and I $100, I could live with it. But only with the addendum that the rules are enforced verbatim henceforth.

I'm not accusing, but I didn't notice any other posts that were edited after the games they referred to went off. But then again, I didn't pay very close attention.

Not a big deal, I'd just like to know what happened.

I had realy wanted to let this one go but as long my name's already been mentioned twoce in this thread I might as well include my 2c.

Anyhow, there's a gigantic difference between 1) making an erroneous post and within a matter of seconds (all prior to the game's start I might add), correcting the error and 2) waiting for a game to be begin, allowing a couple of outs to be recorded, changing the pick on the already in-progress game, and then making a totally different pick on the same already in-progress game.

I'll make it clear. I like Winston. I like hime a lot. I think he's a good and honorable guy. I don't think he was purposely trying to cheat anyone. However, I do think that a cornerstone of any gambling forum contest is that picks under no circumstances can either be submitted or altered after the first pitch of a game has been thrown (let alone after two outs have been registered). Past posting, whatever the rationale, and whatever the circumstances is unacceptable. Period.

Winston holds that he past posts only so that "[his] position relative to Ganchrow would be unchanged". Does this imply that there exists a right to maintain one's position relative to another contestant that somehow supersedes the rules of the contest itself? I argue no. Once a game begins all wagering on that game ends. Without exception.

To make my motives clear -- I personally forgo any and all claim to any April winnings. It's not about the money but rather about the principle. As far as I'm concerned Winston can keep the winnings. He had an excelent month. (How he chooses to handle it with MrX is between the two of them.) Nevertheless, I do feel very strongly that Winston's score should be adjusted downwards by the 1.18 units he gained from yesterday's past post. If someone places a bet after a game has already started, then that bet is void. That's not just a "VIP Baseball Bankroll Contest" rule. It's a fundamental online gambling rule.

Just to clarify, unless there was a delay of several minutes on my ESPN feed, the game had not started when I edited my post. (This doesn't make a fallacy of Ganchrow's assessment of what you can and can't do at a book, but I just want it clear that no pitches had been thrown.)

Also, I will restate my plea that the rules be universally enforced throughout the rest of the contest. I would not have even a second thought about this if I hadn't spent 29 days watching violation after violation go by without consequence, only to be strung up myself on the last day of the month.

No, I can't say that I saw any edited after the game started, either. But the rules say "edited posts." No reference to a grace period, prior to first pitch or otherwise. (I do see the distinction, though. The rules just don't expound upon it.)

Others posted games without lines, again without consequence (even in light of no less than 3 direct warnings by Illusion to do so).

Hence my objection to being the single example over a 30-day period of verbatim, or Hell, any enforcement of the rules.

Like you, I was checking in prior to game times throughout the day to see what would keep me in a good position. I saw the over, posted; then saw the change, changed mine.
