Default A question for Ganchow...

How often does the halftime line land right on or within a half a point of the number..? NBA, NCAA and NFL football...

Is it safe to assume it's more often then it would be for a gameline..?

It's going to obviously depend upon the number and the sport.

There are at least two competing factors at play:
  1. Due to scoring granularity, over a shorter time interval there's going to be fewer possible outcomes (a team can only score so many times within a given interval). This will tend to increase the likelihood of landing within half a point of a number.
  2. Over a shorter time interval there's going to be a higher degree of volatility per unit of time. While a middle-of-the road college basketball team stands but a slim chance of defeating an NBA team over the course of an entire game, it would be substantially more likely for the amateur team to outscore the NBA over a given minute. This will tend to decrease the likelihood of landing within half a point of a number.

Anyway, RickySteve is the man on this. If he's feeling generous perhaps he'll chime in.

Unfortunately, the OP is in the "...if he were on fire" camp.
