Exclamation What is the best sport's betting book?

I have found that the best way to learn about a subject is to read quality books on it.

Not just any book, but one that revolutionized the subject.

What are the great sports betting books you've read?

You'll only find that in horse racing literature. They are dumb kind enough to share revolutionary findings after Beyer started that trend. In the rest of sports betting the rule is pretty much hush-hush where it comes to breakthroughs (there are plenty of standard works that you should read, because it's all about a way of thinking that gradually becomes part of you). The one exception may be The Book for baseball.

If anyone found something that actually worked, they should keep it to themselves and not attract too much attention. If it kind of works then put up a website and market it and make money that way.

Of the ones I've read, Stanford Wong's "Sharp Sports Betting" is the best. I haven't read King Yao's book (although I did read his poker book which I thought was informative but didn't contain any revelations that weren't available in other poker books).

Just read through the posts in the Think Tank. After reading about 50 threads, you know which members' posts actually put money in your pocket. Then read every post from those members, and make sure you understand them. At that point, you should be good to go, unless you read the posts from the wrong folks

Fixed Odds Sports betting. Deals a lot with soccer for examples but explains the overround and the importance of avoiding large ones, asian handicap, different types of staking and pros/cons of each, how to most steadily build a bankroll with the least amount of noise and up/down up/down growth. For all that have read SSB and WTO, I prefer this one over both, and strongly recommend it to others

hardly any will tell you exactly what to do that's accurate (they are to make money for the author, not to give away secrets to the unwashed masses), and those that did are out of print and their advice is out of date anyway.

Get a db and slave away to learn it yourself grasshoppa, ain't no easy answers in this biz.

I'd like to add two books which I found very enlightening when I read them a few years ago:

* Calculated Bets, Steven Skiena (Nice overview on how to do a math model of a sport)

* Gambling Wizards, Richard W. Munchkin (Interviews with gamblers, mostly for entertainment, but I picked up a few good things anyway)

And I agree that Sharp Sports Betting and Fixed Odds Sport Betting are good too.

There isn't such a book............it is a market so people aren't likely to give away all their secrets, but if you search high and low, you'll find enough to figure some stuff out.

There are numerous good books, and several have been mentioned here already. Some, like Dan Gordons book gets very technical. Others go in different directions. One thing that I find most important is developing a good money management system. That has to be first and formost. Once you have that in place, you can dive into the details and fine tune your systems. After you develop a good money management system, you must learn how to control your wagering. You must learn self discipline and self control. You must learn never to chase, no matter what situation you THINK you may find yourself in. If you do not have a good money management system and have excellent self control and self discipline, all the knowledge in the world will not help you.

Yeah, me too. Looks like no one minds. GL with your plays. I think it is not a bad idea to show your value first, post some picks, then start charging for plays.

Seems like a more honorable way to go into the touting business.
