I frequently tease basketball. There is no best number. It all depends on what the hooks are in the games you tease. For example, today's lines as they are now.
Dallas -4 Detroit +4
OKC -5.5 Clippers +5.5 (line has moved .5 up recently)
Phoenix -7.5 Toronto +7.5 (line has moved .5 up recently)
Lakers -9 Houston +9
ok. I'll go Detroit, OKC, Phoenix, Lakers.
4pt tease: Det +8, OKC -1.5, Phoenix -3.5, Lakers -5 (pays 3-1)
4.5 tease: Det +8.5, OKC -1, Phoenix -3, Lakers -4.5 (pays 5-2)
5 tease: Det +9, OKC -.5, Phoenix -2.5, Lakers -4 (pays 2-1)
10 tease (ties lose): Det +14, OKC +4.5, Phoenix +2.5, Lakers +1 (pays 10/13)
here is where i move to get the hooks.
Look at Detroit. We want to get them at/over 4 baskets. so consider 4.5.
However 4.5 and the Lakers are still -4.5, needing 5 to win. no good.
So I go up to the 5 pt, and 2-1 is still nice
odds there. If the Lakers only win by 4, it's a push on that and pays 7-5 overall.
all about lining up the hooks to your advantage. Wherever they appear first.
