Default Need help managing bets

Ok so this season my local bookie changed his payout structure. He pays me 1 to 1 on all bets. If i lose i have to pay 105 for every 100 i lost(I know makes no sense to me).

This structure rewards you for winning because you get even payouts. Some people I know have recently started to ask me to call in bets for them. I decided that I can charge 10% on wins and still collect 105 on losses(I risk nothing outside of non payment). So this week I called in over 5000 in winning bets which means I collected 500 by doing maybe 1 hour of work.

I am handling bets for 4 bettors(all co workers). I need to figure out how to manage bets because this week I almost lost track of all the wagers(roughly 20-25) that were placed. I thought about getting a windows phone and using excel but I need a good template.

Any ideas? also was thinking there must be some simple software out there. anyone know anything that might help me manage wagers and keep track of who owes what and who I need to payout?

was not sure if this is the forum to post in but if it isn't then point me in the correct direction.

any help is appreciated

EDIT: forgot to mention that I work on Saturdays and Sundays (at a big warehouse chain, and those are the two busiest days for betting and shopping coincidentally) and need to figure out a system I can use on the go and then at the end of the day I can archive it on my comp

#1. who the fck pays juice when u win??????
#2. if you cannot keep track of 20-25 bets in a week, u are pretty slow. my one local has about 55 players and said he handles upwards of 2,000 bets in a week while NFL and NBA is going on and has two guys take calls
#3. write down the bets on paper

writing it down is too easy....... But who the hell is losing 105 to win 90. I want them as my customer. At first read I thought you were juicing them 10% and paying out 5%

Good Points but,

I write it down on paper now but what happens when i get more people and more bets(i know 20 today is a small amount but im just starting and because I wasnt prepared I almost F'ed up) I still want to save it on my computer so i can go back and see how I am doing and what others are doing(would use mysbr but dont have internet access all the time)... really just looking for a nice excel sheet or something(i know i can make it myself but wanted ideas of how others did it)...

oh and i dont think i will ever be handling 55 people and 2,000 bets ... thinking more of the 50-100 a day and no more than 15 bettors

not bad...

playing around in excel right now... setting up a tab for each person and each tab will be sectioned by week... each week will have a running total row for +/- and the usuals like spread, amount, result(W/L) , balance(-/+), commission collected and at the bottom I can have season totals

pretty basic but once i get a windows phone this will travel with me anywhere.

seems like the easiest answer for small operations

ill post it up once im done so if anyone has suggestions or might want to use it can get it.

thanks for the help

Mobile excel is really incumbent in most situation, I think you would be better off using something like evernote to take down people's wagers and then just copy it into your excel template when you get home.

I like your idea of evernote beceause its compatible over many different Operating systems... currently using an iPhone but if i can sync my notes from phone to computer(windows) than I wouldnt have to chagne phones.

thanks for the idea

durito is correct, despite the conventional wisdom that only losers pay juice.

correct me if im wrong but,
seems like if you are using your example, you bet 110 and only got paid 100. what happened to the extra 10 that you wagered? juice.

but it was placed. You wagered 110 not 100. in my situation if i place 110 i win 110 not 100. big difference because if i hit 51% i end up profitable but in your situation 51% is not profitable. I understand your reasoning that you are not "paying" when u win but think of it like this, you wagered 110 but they keep 10 when u win.

If I understood your arrangement correctly, you lose 105 to win 100. So you are not really laying 110 to win 110 because if you lose you have to pay 110*1.05 = 115.50 which would not be profitable at 51%. Is this correct?

As to the rest, I would love to find individuals that are willing to lay 105 to win 90.

Joe.

Your right my math was off a little but at 52% I am profitable... where in most cases 52% would not be profitable.

and if i lay down halftime bets for my "clients"... wagers are 110 to win 80 (again i get paid 100 by my local bookie)

Jacking from them would be taking without consent. I, my friend, make sure they know what they are risking and what they stand to gain. It is all fair as long as they agree.

The market must have dead money to survive. Your "clients" are prime examples of why sports will always be beatable.
