Smile Offensive and Defensive adjusted points per game for football

Does anyone know to calculate team offensive and defensive adjusted points per game for football or does anyone know a site where I can go to get these numbers?

There are a ton of way to do this.

Are you adjusting for turnovers, strength of schedule, other luck factors or what?

I want to Adjust offensive total scoring minus kick/punt returns and defensive scores like safties, touchdowns, etc. And, adjust defensive total scoring minus kick/punt returns, etc. I read it's something that's used to help calculate Troy Aikman efficency ratings.

One approach is to do a regression with just the following stats: rushing yards, rushing attempts, passing yards, passing attempts and third down conversions.

What you're effectively doing is creating an offensive power rating taking out turnovers and special teams.

I have never seen someone adjust for average starting line of scrimmage.

I wouldn't worry about average, but you might classify it by location - red zone, normal, or backed up.
