New user to the forum but have read a lot of stuff here tried doing a search on it but cant find anyone who actually had gotten data from teamrankings.com into excel for their use. Anyone who is willing to help be greatly appreciated as auto updating spreadsheets much more simple than typing all data in by hand

Sorry should have been more clear. Its not for their power rating which I'm sure as you stated aren't overly useful its for their statistics. I previously was doing box scores by hand then found their site then was updating sheets by hand but when you do the major sports ends up equaling a lot so any way of speeding it up is a great help. I saw someone reply to a post saying its possible to do on another thread but they offered no help into how to do it.

I'm pretty bad with programming sayhey thanks for the response even though I'm sure I'll get called a noob or something not going to lie or anything where my bad programming skills I'd be hoping someone could do more help than just suggest the means to doing such once I had a sample page I'm pretty sure I could mod to my needs I have done so with other formatted pages. But team rankings for some reason gives me fits

You have three options:

1. Learn to code.
2. Hire someone to code it for you.
3. Pull the data manually.

I highly doubt anyone here is going to code it for you for free.

Well on side note only real stat I want from them is 1st half scored and allowed any of you guys know a site that's in a more friendly format? If not I'll probably just work on coding and deal with just manually inputting the stats from TR much better than previous method.

not sure what sport youre looking for but http://www.sports-reference.com/ has em all. you could also just go straight to the league website (ie. nfl.com, wnba.com, etc.) those are usually reliable but website changes throughout the years can make it difficult. sports reference has stayed the same for almost every sport in meaningful history so it should be a breeze. or you could just pay me 200/hr...

NFL and College football the two sports I'm looking at right now though maybe some stats in NBA and college hoops eventually.
nfl.com does not have 1st half stats readily available. Yes I'm sure could scrape the box scores and use them that way which could yield better results with having more to work with. ie: could do yard per point in first half and such. However I'm just needing the scores for differential which again looks the same from sport reference again possibly handy but little more than I'd need. I did look up the percentage of points typically scored in first half which gives me an expected 1st half differential based off total points scored might try that. How long would it take you write something like that up? I only asked about teamrankings due to the fact that what I"m looking for is readily available so the time factor I would think would be easier.

For anyone willing to help I've decided to go the box score scrape route, which have completed but now its a matter of putting it all in a format that is easily manipulated as only way I could figure out was each game in a separate sheet. Long night after work of trying things out thanks in advance if anyone does help.

Box scores lie. So do some other stats that the" experts" here might profess to be helpful. Sometimes self taught is better than many of the yellow brick roads.

Indeed boxscores can lie if looking at them blindly or untrained. But they can also provide great detail if knowing what to do with them. And none of my work has been based off what "experts" here have professed. I would agree with the self taught and infact I'd say it is almost always better unless you are completely unable to do it which I'm not just not as proficient and continued to work on it. I have it done well enough now that it works for me. I'm sure others would go about it completely different though which is why still if anyone feels like diving into the project and share more than welcome to but have understood from the start if they would rather not.
