baseball data
I know there are a lot of sources of baseball data, but I am curious to know which you find most useful. I am thinking of using sportsinsights data for historical line information and retrosheets for historical game information. Retrosheets might be too comprehensive so I might opt for something simpler.
Any thoughts on sources for historical baseball data?

You can get historical lines from Covers for free. Their data is not always accurate but the price is right.
I myself am looking for game logs with weather data in them.
Has anybody seen Weather Data? The lost relative of mine whom I have never seen... Please be kind and help me find her!

Back to 1999.
Yes to totals.

I forgot who posted this a while ago to give the credit to but here are the MLB lines and game results from Covers, 4/4/99 - 7/19/2008.
Please post the missing recent lines. Thanks.

What if I said I had weather and pitch by pitch data, including pitch locations for the past 4 years?

I am curious if anyone used SBR data (though only two years worth), but they seem to have line history as well as RL/ML/Tot, rather than just Tot/ML?

Also... Data... do you know the link to Covers free historical data? As far as I see covers only lists data from 2006?

Come on guys, this is the last call to get the credit, there is very little actual value in raw data anyway. Some of you must have it. If nobody posts this I am going to scrap it from baseball-reference and post it here anyway. I am kind of busy and just looking for a little time saver. Thanks.

Retrosheet has it all. It's BB-Ref's source.

Perhaps I am going blind but looking at their fields descriptions I just do not see any weather related fields.

What I don't get is: folks spending a lot of time building models, and then feeding 'em crap data (oh, only a few errors).
One year, I found a number of errors in the NFL Gamebooks that had significant relevance to my picks as it totally changed 3 of them. One of the errors was a 100 yd dif in the total rushing yards of a team.

LOL, I keep my own data and usually compare with some of the sports magazines etc during the season. I sometimes make mistakes, sometimes newspapers make mistakes.... but keeping data takes time and the data I want takes a lot to keep track off....

24-7: Yep, that's what I'm talking about. I keep wanting to put together a group of folks who are interested in only checking their dbs against each other. Save a lot of time.

I bet there are couple of dozen posters here who have last season lines. No one seem to care to contribute. Note, this type of data has little to none value.

Give me a couple of weeks. I'm in the process of a significant change to my database and MLB model right now. What book(s)? Closing numbers?

Monkey, I am backtracking through the last 5 seasons to see how certain bets would turn out depending on the criteria. I have been using the Covers spreadhseets provided above. I am not sure what lines the Covers data uses. Does anyone know?
I just need the scores and the ML to the games (again I'm using the Covers ML, but don't know where they got them from).

Thanks LT. Wasn't Sure. Would you see any problem/discrepancy with using closing lines as opposed to opening lines?

Well of course there will be discrepancies, but I guess it won't matter as long as you are consistent and your Pinny openers are accurate.
