Some soccer articles. If anyone can find the link to the publication on the Skellam distribution that's missing it would be greatly appreciated.

here is a good piece on pujols struggles. i guess if you are using some kind of future projections this could show he may still fall short of even updated stats. the article suggest his swing rate is way up over the course of the 2nd half of last year and the first part of this year. this stat is seen by most in the industry to be the first to stabilize with a small sample.

If anyone is still interested in Markov chains and baseball, ala Bukiet and Harold, I highly recommend Adam Sugano's doctoral dissertation at UCLA, "A Player Based Approach to Baseball Simulation." Fine piece of work, that. Even the bibliography is a goldmine, which includes the Bukiet and Harold paper. You can find a pdf on the web, just google the title.

Amazing, I finally read where Justin7 banned someone for cause, a stupid cause perhaps, and to boot it was the wrong someone.

BTW, as Mathdotcrank sez: ban me, see if I give a shit.

I've gone over to the dark side with Monkey, Mathy, dorito & the rest of their cult, helping idiots only can possibly harm your edge. The smarter ones may even get to your "level."

We need more dumb, rich sheep.

Good read, thank you. I haven't personally tried to implement these models, although they're very interesting. I'm just a basic advantage gambler.
