Default NBA money line

Anyone know the formula used to convert spreads to money lines in the NBA? I know there is a calculator on this site but I'm looking for some kind of a formula to plug into excel...thanks.

Yeah, after researching a bit I saw there isn't really a nice and easy formula to slip in and convert the lines. Seems strange to me, in the NBA I would think every point is valued roughly the same...guess not.

This thread may be helpful (and perhaps should be archived in the think tank)

Jay Edgar TRUE money lines (based on the last 9 years of NBA play)

Jay got tired of the juveniles that were infiltrating this site at the time.

Jay's post is the best I have seen on the subject, but even he ignored game totals. Still, close enough for government work.

Thanks Durito.

You can get a reasonable estimate without using the total.

Ah, ok,

chemist,

Yes and Jay did just that. Total would give you CLOSER estimate, but that's fine.
