I think you should wager on what you know best. A firend of mine is the program director for a radio station. If he had a strong feeling on who might win which grammy, I could see him wanting to place a bet on it.

But arandom giuy who opened an account to ebt sports and sees the odds on the grammys or survivor and wants to place a bet. That's a dengerate. Unless it's really money he doens't care about. In whihc case I'd prefer if he'd send his money to me instead

I'm not sure how closely this relates but my input is this:

I have gotten to the point where I barely bet on anything based on traditional capping (i.e. - sizing up a match-up and betting based on my opinion). I do a lot of sports betting based on mathematical trends but I have very little time for and interest in handicapping.

I probably place about 20 bets a year of that nature - and 2 or 3 of those are usually on the Oscars. I am enough of a movie buff that I could almost be considered an insider. I know the movies and I believe I understand the psychology of the voters. And my results seem to bear that out as I have had good success. It would not be unreasonable to say that the Oscars are my best capping event, better than any sport.

So I can easily understand how someone could feel the same about the Grammy's.

However IMO the more common scenario is that, as I think we all know, almost all "cappers" lose in the long run - and they're really just kidding themselves when they claim to be significantly more accurate than a coinflip at anything - so betting the Grammy's is really no different than anything else.

I personally don't bet on stuff like this, but I know a few guys who clean house on these types of events.

Even if you would have the access to official results before them being made public? You're a loser, BuddyBear.

Anyone who makes ridiculous statements like "I would never bet on stuff like this" should really do themselves a favor and QUIT GAMBLING.

What they don't understand is that the more obscure the event, the better the chance of finding incorrect lines and the better chance to profit.

I would bet on women's synchronized swimming if I felt there was profit potential in doing so.

Last years edition of American Idol was a great example of oddsmakers NOT having a clue how to set correct lines. When it got down to the final 2 contestants, you had the choice of Adam Lambert and photos across the internet of him french kissing other men versus Kris Allen (the teenage girl heartthrob).

The judges on the show were practically masturbating with themselves over Adam Lambert but they are NOT the ones who decide who wins. That honor mainly falls to teenage girls who monopolize the voting and teenage girls don't like men kissing other men.

You could have gotten all you wanted on Kris Allen @ +250 even though he should have been the clear cut favorite. This is something you will NEVER see betting the regular sports so when I hear people say they will "never bet on stuff like that", I can only laugh while knowing they will NEVER succeed.

I don't see how it's any worse than betting thousands on college kids playing basketball.
