she doesn't think she'll win. umm, well she IS the favorite according to the bookmakers. 8/13 odds. next is Meryl Streep 7/4 - others, no-names.
I don't think Meryl's impersonation of Julia Childs, as well done as I heard it was, is enough for the Academy to pass up the chance to fulfill Sandra's career at age 45 and award her finally with Best Actress. She gave a heart-wrenching, tough and "real" performance in The Blind Side (or so I hear).
These human-interest type performances complete with it being a true-life story with that football player still alive helps her odds too.
Streep has won before, at least once. The others ? well.. nobody cares about them. This is Sandra's baby. at 45 years old, probably her final chance to get a real Oscar and not just a nomination because the stats say they favor under-40.
Sandra is the bet. Payout .62/1 is not bad. It's her turn. Perfectly placed odds.
Not too high (to pay too much), not too low (to give away the KNOWN fact).
