    Default Oscar 2010 nominees

Well they just announced the nominees a few minutes ago... we should put up a full list with our predictions soon and start talking. Not too many surprises if you have been following movies this year.

    things to note:
-10 nominees for best picture this year, in order to draw ratings. But we all know it's between The hurt locker and Avatar.
-obvious choices: Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges for supporting and best actor.
-foreign language film between A Prophet and The White Ribbon (the white ribbon winning almost every other award before this Oscars)

Only shocker was "The Blind Side" for Best Picture. I would not bet that one at +1000000000 with your money.

  3. #3

    Default

take bigelow to win best director, she will be +100 or better and with a DGA award in her pocket to boot.Only 6 times since 1948 has someone who won a DGA failed to win best director...strongest play out there.

Agree but think the price may be even better with Cameron and the Avatar buzz. Would love to see a better number on Bigelow.

Anxious to see when the openers come out.

Pretty much agree with all those. Not a lot of drama really. I'm still hoping Bullock someway, somehow does not win for the sake of credibility.

in the case of betting on the Oscars, I think 'chalk' works....

  13. #13

    Default

I think this year, were not going to see all the chalk win, just a gut feeling I have, over 1.5 for up in the air at +400 is a great price, since they were snubbed at the globes i think the academy would want to give them some due.
Also the field for best pic at +1350 loos appealing...WHY you ask, because we have 10 nominess now for best pic and with that many votes are going split up alot more, which in theory allows for a major upset.

  14. #14

Beefcake you got some good points.

I'm almost 100% that Kathryn wins Director, she was totally snubbed at the Golden Globes (as categories usually are there). I think Avatar winning the most oscars is obvious, The Hurt Locker deserves best picture, so let's see if the oscars snubs them for the billion Avatar fans or goes for the "surprise" quality pick.

    bottom line for me...

I'm going for Hurt Locker over Avatar on 2 categories, anyhting else isn't really worth it.

  16. #16

Avatar should be about -50000 in the Art Direction category. Having seen the other films that is as close to a mortal lock as it gets.
