Bookmaker Releases Odds On 64th Annual Awards Minutes After Nominations

WILLEMSTAD, CURACAO (December 14, 2006)—Less than an hour after the official nominations were announced earlier this morning, Pinnacle Sports became the first bookmaker in the world to release odds on the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards. As the Hollywood Foreign Press Association was unveiling the nominees, odds makers at Pinnacle Sportswere busy calculating odds for the most popular Golden Globe categories.



The largest sports betting site on the Internet, Pinnacle Sports has created odds on seven major Golden Globe categories acknowledging excellence in motion pictures, which are widely considered a preview to the Oscars. The Departed opened as the favorite to capture the Best Drama award at 1/1 odds and director Martin Scorsese is a 5/9 favorite to win Best Director honors. The highly touted Dreamgirls is a huge 1/7 favorite to be named the Best Comedy or Musical. In the Best Actor in a Drama category, Forest Whitaker is favored to win for his role in The Last King of Scotland at 5/7, while Helen Mirren is an overwhelming favorite to take the Best Actress in a Drama at 1/5 odds. Pinnacle Sports has named Sascha Baron Cohen (11/10) and Meryl Streep (4/7) as the odds-on favorites to capture the Best Actor and Actress in a Comedy or Musical honors.



Pinnacle Sports will accept wagers on the 64th Annual Golden Globe Awards until only hours before the awards ceremony on Monday, January 15, 2007. Below are the current odds offered by Pinnacle Sports with nominees appearing in descending order from favorites to long shots under each category heading.

I don't know about you guys but some of these odds seem really short here. I'm curious to see what some of you guys might think where the best value is in these catagories. I'm thinking in the "Best Actor – Musical or Comedy" that Will Farrell at 6/1 might be worth a shot here.
