Default Movie totals for Oct 20-22

If anyone's interested:

Flags Of Our Fathers
# of theaters 1850
14.5 mil O +137 / U -153

Flicka
# of theaters ???
8 mil O +170 / U -186

The Prestige
# of theaters 2250
14.5 mil O +154 / U -170

I've heard very little about all three. Maybe that's why they're all shaded towards the under.

All I know is 'Flags Of Our Fathers' is a WWII drama directed by Clint Eastwood and has received lukewarm early reviews.

I know Flicka is basically a kids movie that may be hurt by lack of star power (country singer Tim McGraw is the only one I knew). It also has a PG rating which may keep some parents from taking their kids. I think I'd lean toward the under even though there isn't any value there. No clue on the other two.

i don't have any strong opinions

i agree with gummo, if flicka was G the I would say over but now dunno what to think

flags has clint behind it and WW2 generally does good but the advertising has been average

the prestige has good star power but hardly anyone knows what it is about and the advertising also has been average

flicka is estimated in 2,800 theaters

that flags in only 1,800 theaters really stands out saying don't take the over

i am no playing unless get further info

Flags of our Father is about 2.5 hours long. Man that's tooooooo long and it's mostly drama. No blood spewing, liver spilling action. The only gory details and violence you will get out of this movie is in your imagination if you're one of those literate types.

No real actors in here, boring stuff, probably win some oscars for best picture or some pencilless stuff.

With limited theaters I'd say this goes under.

1. "Flags" would do over 14.5 million if it was opening on more than 1,800 screens. I think it will come slightly below estimates.
2. "Flicka" could do over 7.5 million by opening in 2,800 screens but who else besides pre-pubescent girls are going to watch this. I think they could slightly beat estimates by the sheer number of screens.
3. I'm dying to see "The Prestige" but it ain't doing over 14.5 million this weekend.

Good luck to everyone.

I just saw the preview for it. And looks like it has potential. I'll see how the reviews are though before watching. But I'm curious how does a movie directed by Christopher Nolan starring Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johansson and Michael Caine get so poorly advertised?

Both "The Prestige" & "Flicka" barely beat numbers. "Flags" comes in way below estimates.
