    Default American Idol Finale

    http://www.sbrforum.com/Betting+Arti...ris-allen.aspx

I’ve been nervous all week. Kris Allen seized the momentum from the season-long favorite Adam Lambert last week. I took solace in the fact that the books still had Lambert as the heavy chalk. I’m not sure what they knew that I didn’t. After Tuesday’s show, I feel like I have nothing to worry about again.

It has been a wild ride, and the most entertaining season that I can recall. The top five contestants could all be people that have memorable careers (except Danny Gokey) and be heard from for years. It came down to the two guys who deserved to be there the most. Lambert has been the favorite throughout. Allen has been an afterthought underdog throughout. What I and many others didn’t realize was that Allen has many factors working in his favor. He is a good looking kid. He is relevant with the type of music that is popular today. He is a personable guy. At least I started taking note about a month ago. But in the end, I think that the contestant that I’ve been calling out as the winner since day one has sealed the deal.

Adam Lambert was his own worst enemy. Once he eased up on the make-up, lowered the theatrics and kept the screeching to a minimum, he excelled. But the problem was that he never knew when to tone it down. In the end it was his flamboyancy that was his greatest asset. Websters.com defines “flamboyant” as:

Flamboyant: strikingly bold or brilliant; showy.

And that’s exactly what he was tonight. Strikingly bold and brilliant. I’m keeping an eye on the early Matchbook odds being released and Allen is listed as a -139 favorite right now. Hopefully the early returns are misleading, as I hold several tickets on Lambert placed at different stages of the contest. Here is a quick look at the finalist’s odds throughout the season.

    Allen Lambert

    Final 12 +2800 +205
    Final 11 +4000 +175
    Final 10 +1900 +222
    Final 9 +1900 +130
    Final 8 +669 +100
    Final 7 +1566 -194
    Final 6 +1900 -194
    Final 5 +1150 -244
    Final 4 +1150 -216
    Final 3 +1000 -300
    Final 2 +272 -288

For the finale, each contestant performed three songs. First song would be their choice, second would be the choice of show producer Simon Fuller, and the last would be the tacky song co-produced by judge Kara DioGuardi to be recorded on the winner’s debut album. And boy was that third song crappy this year. Randy Jackson was dressed like Willard Scott. Paula and Simon Cowell had dueling fake bakes going on. On to the performances!

    Adam Lambert
    ‘Mad World’
    ‘Change Is Gonna Come’
    ‘No Boundaries’

With ‘Mad World’ Lambert revisited his best performance of the season. It was a perfect song choice for him. Then they showed Anthony Hopkins in the crowd. That’s probably not a good sign.

‘Change Is Gonna Come’ allowed Adam to show off a bluesy quality to his voice. Even with a bit of screeching, the note that he held at the end made for an amazing performance. Then I’m pretty sure that they showed Katie Holmes and Suri in the crowd. I had to have seen wrong. If you put Baby Suri and Ryan Seacrest in the same room, I’m positive that is the formula for the birth of the antichrist.

‘No Boundaries’ is a terrible song no matter who is performing it. No shocker that Kara liked it. I’m pretty sure she was alone.

    Kris Allen
    ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’
    ‘What’s Going On’
    ‘No Boundaries’

Allen saddles up behind the piano and gives a flawless performance of ‘Sunshine’. The kid has talent, no doubt.

Up next is a Gaye song. I know that if I told you that before the show began, you would assume it was a Lambert song. But no, it’s Allen, this time strumming his guitar for this soulful classic. I enjoy him this way. It reminds me of when Lauryn Hill stopped rapping and started doing unplugged shows. To me, Allen gives the same heartfelt sound when he presents himself this way. I enjoy it.

The last song is even worse than when Lambert tried it, but that is not his fault – It’s Kara’s.

Two hours after the show ended, I can find Allen as a -300 favorite (WSEX) or Lambert as a -160 favorite (Matchbook). At this point, I’m clueless. But just know that if Kris Allen wins on Wednesday, I will be some sad-faced Bread.

So will I, for not winning $2900 on Allen.

Bread, I'm not sure why WSEX has Allen listed at -300 but the market is paused and that price was NEVER available to wager on.

During the show, Lambert hit a low of 39 (+153) and right now the line is as close to 50-50 as you can get.

Even though it appeared Lambert performed slightly better overall tonight, the odds on Allen still plumetted from +280 down to even money which verifies that Allen was the correct side heading into this week.

Even though I am still EXTREMELY CONFIDENT that Allen is going to win, I have so much money on him that I am forced to hedge by betting on Lambert as I feel even money is a very fair price at this point in time.

I know you're biased in favor of Lambert due to your bets but don't you find his screeching at least a little irritating?

CONGRATS TO KRIS ALLEN ON WINNING AMERICAN IDOL!!!!

Andy...odds are as close as can be right now. I'm still feeling good about my Lambert plays. And yes, the screeching can be too much to handle, but when he shuts it down, his voice is downright gay angelic.

I went ahead and flopped down a serious investment last night on Allen. I see this morning he is at +112, so I guess the betting public came around with me or the book just realized WTF they were doing.

Good luck Bread, if Lambert wins, I will only lose about $500, but if Allen wins, I can buy that shinny new bicycle with the fancy spokes that I have had my eye on.

Be sure to purchase your spokes from me Rager! I might need the money after tonight.

Bread, good luck tonight with the Mascara King. You note that it's been one of the 'most entertaining seasons' for the show, but c'mon, you're ready for this to be over for another year, right?

lambert has so much more talent and singing ability than anyone who has been on this show in a long time. will be a shame to see him lose to a kid who sounds like every other young singer in music. lambert has dominated the show and it amazes how anyone can actually say he shouldnt win. sure the high notes can hurt, but the kid can hit them all.

Would you rather have your balls ripped off and eaten by a crocodile, or would you rather watch American Idol and have to post write-ups after each episode?

    I'd take the former.

LOL at Chicken Little and little doggy coming in at the end to let me have it.

I guess neither of you were paying attn to every other week when I picked the correct person to be voted off 10 of 12 weeks? I made a killing this year...Obviously, it could've been a whole lot better if the gay boy won last night, but alas, he did not.

But hey! Thanks for stopping by fellas!

Handicapping this queer show is as easy as plagiarizing dialidol.com. Too bad you stopped last night because they predicted the non queer would win.

its okay bread. we picked 11 of the last 12 weeks correct and got fukked by all the 10yr.old little girls who voted for kris nonstop til wednesday in the finale. ai really should step in, take a little more control and give the title to who deserves it. this is the 2nd year in a row where i made good money leading up to the final and lost in the end. i had a little more than 4500 to win 8000 riding on the homo. i bet him at every spot i could when he was +money and feel so cheated by this cokkfukking show, i dont think i will buy futures on anyone again. AI left me a dime in the hole and it took me blindly fading Milfdrillers 4th qtr. cavs play to get even. fukk you AI

Yay for me, I get a shinny new wayyyyy over priced bicycle with kick ass rims and spokes.

Sorry Bread, I kind of rode your coatails the entire season until the end. Since I could barely make it through an episode of the American Idle, I went ahead and asked all the bitches I could talk too and not be accused of stepping out on the old lady about the subject, and then I went with the consensus. If it is any consulation, my wife made me watch Momma Mia last night at around 11 so when the song the winner takes it all came on, I thought of you. In a gay way of course.
