Default Box Office Forecast for July 28th to July 30th

Three (3) new movies open this weekend. I was 1 for 4 last weekend. Those damn pirates are still pillaging the box office. "Monster House" was the only movie that came in over the estimates and it barely made that. Everyone is saying America is heading to the theatres in droves in an effort to escape the record heat we are having nationwide.

    1. John Tucker Must Die - 11.5 million
I never heard of this movie until yesterday. I saw the trailer yesterday. I can't imagine anyone wanting to see this movie unless they're angry at their boyfriend. I'm taking the under.

    2. Miami Vice - 28.5 million
Everybody knows about this movie as the studio has been promoting this pic for quite some time. It's rated R and playing in about 3,000 screens. I think Crockett & Tubbs will squeak by. I'm taking the over.

    3. The Ant Bully - 16.5 million
I haven't see the trailer for this movie but it looks stupid. Tom Hanks produced this. I think the kids and parents would rather see "Monster House". I'm taking the under.

They have been advertising the hell out of all three movies near me so I think the over cashes on all of them.

All 3 gross amounts have changed. I'm guessing there's been lots of action on the over for JTMD and the under for MV. The trailers for MV look great but the reviews make it seem lukewarm.

    J.T. Must Die
    Over 12.5 million -179
    Under 12.5 million +163

    Miami Vice
    Over 27.5 million +115
    Under 27.5 million -131

    Ant Bully
    Over 15.5 million -106
    Under 15.5 million -110

***After some research, I'm liking the over on all three movies especially JTMD.

I like the under for the ant bully and the over for the other two. JTMD was pretty entertaining and the ant bully was fun, but there's been minimal advertising for the ant bully around here. it's not getting a big push in this area.

if you guys get a chance to see little miss sunshine, do it. it's the best feel good comedy of the year. not to mention there are a ton of free screenings for it around the country.

Did you attend a sneak preview for "The Ant Bully" and "John Tucker" earlier this week? I saw the trailer for "Little Miss Sunshine" a few months ago and have been looking forward to seeing it. I saw the new Woody Allen "Spoof" earlier this week. It was better than I thought it was going to be. It's pretty good for a screwball comedy. Also, I highly recommend "A Scanner Darkly"...best PKD film adaptation since Blade Runner.

I'm not sure about FS, but my local radio station is always giving away screening passes. I never take advantage because the theatre is ususally to far away.

Did u end up taking any of the totals, Ill? My wife's dragging me to the midnight showing of JTMD so that'll at least help my cause. (I ended up taking the over for JTMD for 2 units.)

Yea I rarely see a kids pic do so poorly. It seems like every animated pic makes over $100 mil.

Maybe the title scared people off. If you ask me, it is a dumb title.
