Ew, Sean Penn is favored for best actor? That makes me angry.

Ha ha, I was mentioning this to my younger brother today who never saw Fast Times at Ridgemont High, who'd a thunk that dude would have no fewer than 5 Academy Award noms for Best Actor by age 50 (assuming he gets his 5th for kissing boys in "Milk")???

Slumdog Millionaire is a huge favorite considering how early it is before Oscars, maybe it will win a GG but I didn't think it was Best Picture worthy, not a bad movie interesting idea and all, but looks like a good one to bet against for Oscars IMO.

Arty V. We really want to see Slumdog Millionaire. Is it good? Do they have the really bad outsourcing Indian accents that we can't stand listening to when we call for Dell support? I need to know this. HEP!

    Unfortunately, yes.

Some of this movie is in the local language, but I didn't really trust the on screen translation, so bring a good Hindi-English dictionary if you can.

It was a good movie and will entertain you for a couple of hours. But I think the Oscar talk is just temporary buzz and will fade in a few weeks, just like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button was the buzz film a few weeks ago as the +150 favorite, now dropped to something like +800. -120 for Slumdog (for the Oscar)? Can't bet it at that price.

Arty, I lovedddddddd Pan's Laybyrinth more than almost any movie I have ever seen in my entire lifetime.....so subtitles have no effect on me.

LOL @ Sean Penn being taken seriously after Fast Times. You woulda thought he would have followed more of a Judge Reinhold path after that movie.

Not that there's anything wrong with Judge Reinhold. His 2 minutes in Gremlins rank among some of the best in cinematic history!

Arty, we saw Slumdog Millionaire last night. It was actually quite good. There were a few possible cheese-filled moments, but overall, the movie was excellent. I never ever EVER in a million years thought I would like a movie with Indian actors.

    Clean sweep!

Someone must have had what they thought was great inside info on Anne Hathaway, because I saw her bet down from around +250 to -250 or so. Sorry Annie (and Annie backers), good call Robyn.

Although I haven't seen Rachael Got Married or whatever it is called, Anne Hathaway is extremely overrated. I was watching the Critics Choice Awards on VH1 earlier yesterday and she won Best Actress. I was saying in my mind "Oh boy...HEEEEEEEEEERE we go".

Hooray for Winslet. We saw Revolutionary Road yesterday and it was a horribly depressing movie and Kate Winslet was (in my opinion) amazing.
