Would you bet against a lifelong favorite team if you thought it was a good bet?
I think Florida +9 is a good bet against LSU, but I can't bring myself to bet against LSU.

You can not let a favorite team get in your way of making money.
Never play homer in sports betting.

Looker is all over this one.
But you can look at it this way. If LSU wins by 7...your Tigers still win the game and you win your bet. So, you may just be able to have your cake and eat it too!
But if it's going to cause you too much heartburn, don't bet the game and just pull for your Tigers!

I'm a lifelong UT fan, and I have 4 units on OU -10.5. I'm not only betting against my favorite team and alma mater, but I'm doing so in the 2nd most heated rivalry that the school has (and the national rivalry that everyone talks about more). As for Florida +9, you can still win the bet while rooting for LSU. And, in my opinion, it's the right bet.

I'm a lifelong A&M fan, and I got money on Oklahoma State.
Just being realistic.

So there you go, ms61853... A UT fan with money on OU covering dd spread, a Lions fan with money on the Skins covering as a fave, and an A&M fan with money on Oklahoma St. At least you know you're not alone...

all the time. Hell I've got a bet against MSU (my alma mattar) right now...the 3rd time this year I've bet against MSU. I learned from JJ Gold that you have to bet against your favorite team routinely. If anything, you may have an advantage since you know your favorite team real well.
Good luck..

I personally would not bet against my favorite team. Couldn't do it, some things are just more important that money.

As a life long Nebraska fan, I would do it only if I knew that the other team was far more superior (example USC, 49-31 back on 9/15/07).

I guess I am more of a gambler than a fan because I would bet against a team I rooted for if meant a profit in a second. The only exception would be if my team was in the BCS championship (or the Super Bowl or the World Series) because I would bet heavily on the opposing team to win (regardless of the payoff) because the cash would be of some consolation for the loss.
I also bet on teams I HATE. made a lot of money betting for the Red Sox in their last world series win (starting in the first round and rolling it over), and intend to put a stop to their attempt this year as well.
May god have mercy on my sole.

You should be willing to bet against your mother if it is a good bet.

Well my favorite sports teams are the Cowboys and the Yankees. I will bet against the yankees in regular season but not in the playoffs. I think the other team playing the Yankees is a good bet I will just ignore it and not bet that game. I willl never bet against the Cowboys I just can't do it. There are plenty og games to bet, you dont have to bet your favorite teams games.
