John Ryan here and we will be using this thread to discuss all of the aspects of the BYU Cougars vs Utah State Aggies game taking place Friday night September 30. Last week the Utah State Aggies were bid up from an opening line of six points all the way to 12 points. They went on to lose in OT to Colorado State as 12 point favorites.

I think it is always tough for a team to rebound from a horrid OT loss where they personally know they were the superior team and one where a coaching decision in the second OT cost them the game. They went for 2 points in the second OT when it is only mandatory to go for two in the third and subsequent OT periods. I think that was a ghastly decision. What do you all think? will they rebound? or not? Will the total go Under?

The line opened at BYU -10 and has already been bid down to BYU - 6 1/2. Is this the right line movement? I clearly think know, but let's discuss this game thoroughly and see if we can take advantage of the only game being played Friday night.

It's going to be very hard for me to bet on BYU ever again after watching their performance against UCF last week. Then again, doesn't sound like Utah St. did much better against CSU.

Yes, that is correct.. he had the ball first in the third OT and by scoring first in that OT then missing the 2-point conversion opened up the door for an easy extra point to win. Neither defense played well in the OT so he could not have been thinking I'll hold them if I miss.

We will get to the 'real' play later this week. But look at teams that were double digit home favorites, who not only lost the game, but lost in OT.. Hard to play at full potential after a loss like that that leaves you with a 1-2 record.

I live in Logan, UT (USU town). After the coaches debacle in OT, this town wants nothing to do with football. Hard to assign any real value to support or buzz, but the Aggies are just looking to end the season after so many heartbreaks already.

I don't like BYU, but I do like money. I'd lean BYU to win, but if I were forced to bet the game it'd be the over 50.5 or nothing.

I think BYU is a bad team that finds ways to win; Utah State is a good team that finds ways to lose.

Again, it's the over or nothing, but the more I look at this game the less I even like the over.

John I have a question about NC State and Georgia Tech. My book has NC at +9.5 -110. Do you think I should wait until the line hopefully moves to at least +10.5?

I think Byu did and excellent Job at keeping their opponents out of the end zone this year with the exception of Utah. Now Utah st. pts per game average is greater than BYU. Utah st. faced better teams to me in the previous weeks. Now, Byu is 9-1 SU but 2-6 ATS vs Utah st.. After seeing that I was like isn't anything above -6 would be hard for them to cover. Now back to the Utah game they got blown away @ Byu. In a situation like this goes back to what you said about a team being able to bounce back. BYU proved it with UCF, why is it not the same with Utah state? Im not convince that Byu defense can always win the games for them, I expect Utah st. to respond with at least 31 pts when the pts go over 17, I dont think Byu has a chance.

Yes, I would work to get that number. Even 10 is a better and I don't see it dropping today so use the time to get 10 1/2.

I apologize, I thought I had responded to this. I would wait to see if you can get 10. I actually am seeing 10 now so it stands to reason you will be able to 10 1/2 maybe tonight.

That is correct and is exactly what I was attempting to describe. They scored first in the second OT to take a 6 point lead and chose to go for the two and failed. Now, if they were trailing and went for two to win then that is a far different coaching decision.

I really hate to go against you on this one John, I agree on the UNDER 100%. Still gotta think about which sides but if anything the best play would be UNDER for me. In my book its already Utah ST + 8

Nice call on the OT loss, however, the ATS advantage is going vs. losing teams in OT when FAVORED! Can't use that angle for this game, but BYU has 2 extra days, and has '10 revenge so you at least know they will be focused.
