Default All You Need To Know About The Boston College/Virginia Tech Game

Okay, from what I've heard Crane won't be starting. I wasn't blown away by Dominique Davis last week, but he did win his first game, showed some poise, didn't turn the ball over, and threw 2 touchdown passes. Keep in mind that this is a neutral site game for both teams. Also, with three straight wins to close the regular season, Boston College grabbed a division title and a spot in the ACC Championship Game. They are the hot team. If they win the title game, BC goes to the BCS. They’re 9-3 now and ready to face Virginia Tech, the team that beat them in last year’s league championship game, so there's a revenge factor working here too.

Stat line: Well, both teams average almost exactly the same number of points on offense, with B.C. about 5 points better per game on D. Boston Coll. is 7-4 ATS and Va Tech is 4-7. More importantly, Virginia Tech can't pass the ball. They average 131.9 yds/game through the air. So, you say, they can run, but B.C. is only allowing 87.3 yds/game on the ground. I don't know where that ranks in the nation, but it has to be in the Top 5. I guess what I'm saying is with a team like B.C. that is on fire, playing for a BCS bowl, that plays a stout D (especially against the run which is about all VT knows how to do), I have to like their chances here. I'd love any opinions on this game as I see it as one of the better plays on a tough board this week.

I am leaning BC but am waiting to make a final call. V.Tech has not impressed me at all this year. Then again the ACC as a whole has been a disappointment once again.

Enjoyed the write up.

With ya CougarBait. In a nutshell, thats exactly what I wrote on my thread without all the stats.I think that Davis actually gives BC a better chance in this game since the VT defense is so aggresive and they would just pin their ears back against Crane since he's more of a drop back passer.Davis can hurt VT with his legs and as long as he can put up 16-17 pnts,I think that will be enough to get it done since I don't see VT's offense moving the ball very well against BC's defense. If VT can't get some turnovers or some blocked kicks, they're in real trouble here.GL!

I agree BC has the revenge factor and is the hot team......BC's defense will shut down Virginia Tech only source of offense and that's the run
BC 28-17

Hi Cougar,

Nice write up! I think it will be a good game, but like you said BC will take the lead, they are playing well and will be able to move ahead and their defense will protect their lead.

Thanks Godfather, I have to assume at least one turnover for a score in VaTech's favor. Even with that score I still like B.C. to win and cover. It's true that this will be a highly contested game, but I see it playing out much the same way last week's Maryland/B.C. game did. In the end, you have to be able to run the ball and the Eagles just don't let anyone do that. Since that's the only type of offense that the Hokies seem to put up with any consistency, I like the Eagles in the role of a small favorite.
