Default Taking a chance on San Jose State tonight....

San Jose State's offense is brutally ugly, but Fresno State's defense is brutally ugly. San Jose State's defense has been solid most of the season, and I expect them to rise to the occasion at home....

Against common opponents, San Jose State is 4-2 and Fresno is 3-3. Now look deeper at that stat....SJS faced these common opponents mainly on the road and Fresno mainly got them at home. SJS has the clear advantage against common opponents.

Angles that I like for SJS:

- SJS is playing their final home game and trying to increase their bowl prospects with a 7th win.
- Fresno is SJS's chief rival, and SJS will be fired up for the ESPN cameras at home.
- Fresno may be looking ahead to Boise St.
- SJS is 9-2 ATS in home games this year.

I don't expect many people to agree with this choice, and it is certainly risky. But SJS has been tested by two top 30 opponents, Fresno has faced none. I cannot put my money on Pat Hill's underachieving team. At least with SJS you get a team that cares.

SJS coach Dick Tomey:
"It couldn't be more important unless we were playing for a conference championship."

I bought the hook to get the key number 4.

SAN JOSE +4

SJS also lost 21-0 to LaTech at home and Fresno played a ranked #10 Wisconsin

regardless, im probably on them too, still checking it out. like the home angle and the looking ahead possibility. also like the over on this game if it stays around 50

So far,It's the Spartans or nothing for me.Ever since the Wisconsin game,Fresno has been terrible and uninspired.Although winning a few close ones vs UTAH ST,NMEXst,not to mention getting blew out at home against a shoddy HAWAII team as a 23pt fav.I believe the Bulldogs are just ready to get the season over with. One thing concerns me though guys,REED,San jose's quarterback has been downgraded to out!I'm going to hold off before making that phone call on this one.Still going to look at it a while.

I call it a blowout calls the Bulldogs were such big favs and a win of any kind for a 23pnt dog is considered a blowout for me.

This is an angle I looked at too, something else relevant may be that SJS win or lose, held common opponents to an average of 12 fewer points than Fresno

I will be teasing:

SJS +10.5
Over 43

Good luck, I hope you get that. Taking sides is definitely dangerous in this game.

Looks like Kyle Reed has not been ruled out for the game. This is from today's San Jose Mercury News:

"Reed didn't miss a practice this week and Wednesday said, "I'm doing everything in my ability to be able to play."

Tomey reiterated Thursday that he won't rule anyone out until game time."

Hey Fellas,

Although I'm a noobie on this particular forum, I'm not new to the sports wagering world.

Nevertheless, I just wanted to add a snippet to St. Andrew's post because he left a piece out when he quoted the Mercury News and it could change some minds when placing the wager.

"Reed didn't miss a practice this week and Wednesday said, "I'm doing everything in my ability to be able to play." But all signs point to Flynn making his first career start or at least making an early appearance if Reed struggles."

Okay, sounds like he's 50-50, pretty much what I said. I don't care who QBs because Reed sucks. I also don't care if anyone is playing this except me.

Default You are on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St. Andrew, I was just ready to do a write up on this game.

I love San Jose tonight, many of the things you mentioned are right on. This San Jose team is the best team they have had ever.

I believe they will win out right tonight. There defense is much better than Fresno State. They are about 90 yards better per game. Yes I know Fresno has about 100 yards more per game in offense.

Another thing to know is Reed has a better throwing % than Fresno's Brandstater, also Brandstater is know for throwing more picks with Fresno State.

Also keep an eye on Richmond the wide reciever for San Jose he is averaging 11 yards per catch. He is a key player for San Jose.

You should not need that half point u bought, I see San Jose winning out right.

Nice call!

I like the over, neither one of these teams has a great defense. Fresno St has allowed a bad Utah State team to score 28, a terrible Idaho team to score 32, and an average Louisana tech put up 38 on them. So their defense isn't the same as it was early in the year. San Jose State isn't much better. They allowed Idaho to score 24, Louisana tech to score 21, but did hold Utah State to 7. So I think the offenses will be more productive than the defenses tonight. Over!!! Also Everybody and their dog is on the under = Over!

Everything you said is true madworld.I don't know everybody else's reasoning for the under.I just know mine and I see a conservative approach by SJSt tonight and like I said, coupled with the fact that Fresno hasn't exactly been lighting it up as of late.

HA!HA!Just as I said in my thread of"I like the under tonight"Good Call!!!madworld.Lets just hope this isn't one of those situations where the backup comes in and lights it up like if seen happen too many times before.I'll take my chances on the conservative approach theory.

Ok that does favor the under play, not sure I love the game anymore. I am taking it off my play of the week.

It may still win but i can't tarnish my perfect record in college football on a team that is missing their starting QB

Default call me crazy...

... but i don't think Reed being out for SJ really hurts them all that much... he's WAY inconsistent... just one more factor for them to rally around, in addition to rare TV game, at night, etc. then again, i'm on SJ st so maybe that's just wishful thinking!
