Default Leans for Wednesday, 11/19/08

After watching Ball State play one night , I just can't go against them, especially after watching Central Michigan go to overtime and win against a game Northern Illinois squad. Central doesn't strike me as a team that has much defense. They have a very experienced offense however, so I think that this game will turn into a barn burner with Ball State getting just enough stops on defense and out scoring the Chips something like 42-33.

Ball State-6.5 (buying the hook to get off of the key number)

I agree, after watching the Ball St vs ISU game i'm sold on Ball St as legit Top 25 team. Central Michigan on the other hand did not impress vs the same ISU squad and they look like a team that has relied on a run-and-gun offense to slip past weak MAC schools for the last 3 years. Georgia proved that by beating them 52-17 earlier this year, and Georgia has a "weak" defense this year by SEC standards. I think this years Ball St team would keep it respectable with a team like Georgia because of their balanced offense and solid D, maybe something like 31-20.

Here's the real kicker...CMU's avg margin of victory is 6 points. With virtually the same schedule, Ball has a 22 point avg margin of victory.

I am on it.
Thus far I am 5-1 on Ball St this year against the spread. Last week was my first bet with them where they didnt cover.

do you really think that georgia wouldn't slap the hurt on ball st. if they came strolling down to SEC land? and in regards to the real kicker as you put it, something's gotta give here... and with the game IN central mich, i really can't see ball st. blowing them out. CMICH always plays tight tough games and with home court and a lot to play for here, i just don't think ball st. is above a loss or at least a tight victory to the hometown chippewas... all i know is that i have been playing cmu heavy this year, ML ing them just about every time they're dogs... i'll stay to the spread here out of respect for ball st., but you better believe that this will be a game.

I think that CMU put such a first half on N Ill. that they got complacent in the second half, and honestly, it was just a matter of time before the huskies got going... they're not a bad offense, it just took a minute. Also watching that second half, CMU was WAY too conservative, rather than piling on the points, they ran lafevour on like half plus of their plays that i saw second half... plus that was a road game against a previously undefeated at home team. that was more impressive than a let down in my eyes. they'll be up for this game.

also, the world and their dog will be on ball st. so i'd feel more comfortable fading them here anyways.

I've got LaFevour, and the only prescription is more chippewas.

CMICH +7

actually i dont think georgia would slap ball st around as bad as they slapped around CMU...I also think more people are on C. Mich that Ball St., at least on this site anyways.

Even Arkansas can b*!ch slap these 2 teams. It's a joke that BS ranks 14. But it's the system we have to work with. Btw, I personally think the press love the BCS system. It gives them a something to b*!ch about every season.

I haven't seen less than 60% of the money on ball st. anywhere i've been. and i'm not saying that georgia would win by quite the same margin against ball st., but they would definitely win by double digits if not a couple touchdowns as the SEC WAY outclasses the MAC in general. I don't think that ball st. this year is THAT much better than hawaii last year and we all know what they had happen IN georgia, where that beatdown happened.

The SEC isnt very good this year man. LSU, Georgia, and Auburn have all been horribly overrated this year. Ball St. would compete with Georgia guaranteed, and theyd probably beat LSU
