After the safety, couldn't Kansas try an onsides kick in that spot with 12 seconds left? Not sure of the rule, but think it's the same as a kickoff. They should have tried it. Why kick deep?

slew is correct here...Kansas should have tried an onside kick...granted the chances of them recovering and then scoring a 80 something yard TD pass weren't great, that's what they should have done...judging by Mangino's reaction after the safety, I don't think he was thinking a whole lot about it...
