This game I like and like a lot. I am loving Toledo here. They have some real motivation to play well in this bowl game. They were embarrassed last year by UCONN in the Motor City Bowl, I think. I remember this because of the Gradkowski (QB Toledo) situation. Coach Amstutz pulled the same thing he did with the QB injury as he did in the Fresno State game this year. He left everyone totally in the dark as to if Gradkowski would play or not. Gradkowski did play in the bowl game if I recall correctly and was less than stellar.

I believe that the motivation from last year's debacle against UCONN will be enough to push this team to victory over UTEP. I think they are pretty even talentwise but I give a slight edge to the MAC for better competition than Conference USA. I will be on Toledo (-3) over UTEP. I just don't know for how much yet.

Yeah, Ebone..I'm leaning on Toledo also. I've done very well this year on MAC games.
As bigboydan mentioned in his GMAC report in another thread:
MAC schools have dominated all the meetings against CUSA, going 4-0 both SU and ATS in the previous four contests.
I'm going to sleep on it tonight and make a decision tomorrow, but so far, you and I are on the same page.

I just ran some numbers and came up with a line of Toledo by 3.5 and the total @ 59.5.

This is basically a power rating number with no emotion factored in. I just think that Toledo is going to be motivated to play well tonight. My pick for Toledo has a lot to do with motivation tonight. As Razz points out in his bowl write-up, Toledo has been trounced their last two bowl games. I think that changes tonight. I think UTEP has equal talent but their conference isn't as good in my opinion.

E, this is a very large part of why I like UTEP so much. Toledo has one mildly impressive win, at Bowling Green in overtime. They have not beaten any bowl teams. Here are the teams they have beaten: Western Illinois, Western Michigan, Temple, Eastern Michigan, Ball St, Buffalo, and Ohio. UTEP has beaten two bowl teams, Tulsa and Houston.
Also, the probable return of RB Tyler Ebell would give the Miners an emotional lift, which along with the long layoff (and Toledo's horrendous defense), should help get them out of their late-season funk.

Razz, all of this is true except one thing from my perspective. I don't think this RB Ebell is playing tonight. If I'm wrong, then so be it. I thought he was out for the rest of the year. If he's playing then I should reconsider. However, this was part of the reason that I played Toledo. And, yes, I have already play"ed" Toledo. If he's playing, then I didn't get all my facts straight.
