Default Kiffin's 13 year old verbal commit

    http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angele...ory?id=4888515

That's a lot of pressure on someone that young. Thoughts?

He is not the first, and will not be the last. The only way to stop this is for the NCAA to make a rule regarding minimum ages for recruits.

Could you imagine how you'd feel if one of the leading Football teams scouted your son IN MIDDLE SCHOOL?

I don't blame the kid and his father at all. I blame USC and Lane Kiffin. It's just another example of Kiffin being an attention whore. He knew it would get play in the media, and he was right.

This is absolutely sickening to me. Theres no way you can project what this kid will be like in six years. He's probably playing kids who havent even hit puberty yet so theres no way you can know what he will do. Plus hes not even fully matured yet. SICKENING is the only word to describe this.

I think the same thing was done with Leak (or his brother?) -- Wake F with Caldwell as coach.

I'd offer odds of +5000 he will never make anything. (+50000 he makes it -10000 he doesn't).

I hope he still takes academics seriously as that would be a shame. You never know and being that young can lead to mistakes. I am surprised that this rule hasn't been enforced already, we had mindless boards on the NCAA.

You guys obviously know absolutely nothing about how this whole thing came about. For all of you USC haters (because you constantly get your tails kicked by USC) here is what really happened.

This kid is being coached by Steve Clarkson, a guy who is hired to coach young potential recruits. He worked with Big Ben, Barkley, Clausen, Leinart, and others when they were in their teens. Lane Kiffin called Clarkson and asked him about potential recruits for NEXT year. Clarkson calls Kiffin back and tells Kiffin that the kid is an absolute natural and a lock to be an All American. He also tells Kiffin that the kid lives and breaths Cardinal and Gold. As it turns out, the kid has always wanted to go to USC and no other school. So Kiffin watches this kid on yahoo, sees him in action, sees what he has to offer, and tells the guy that he would sign him tomorow if he could. Clarkson tells Kiffin to call the kid. And that is the whole story.

Now unless the NCAA takes steps to ban this practice, the rest of the NCAA had better start catching up to Kiffin and USC. This is the way things will be done, unless the NCAA steps in. This kid's father spend the time and the money to hire Clarkson. The kid wants to go to USC, and his dad wants him to go to USC. There is nothing wrong with this. How many kids start practicing for their preferred sport at age 3? You guys are just jealous that Kiffin has one-up'd your HC's. Get with the program people.

Why not? If the kid commits and gets injured / turns out to be crap so what? If he turns out to be the next Peyton Manning, USC grabbed him fast and they had iothing to lose. The NCAA are the fools - sitting and watching this whole stiupid thing take place with no rules or guidelines in place.

me neither... he was a big time loser in the NFL, he had a mediocre year with Tennessee, and he gets talked about as if he is some elite coach. He did not pull of any upsets at Tennessee and even lost some games he shouldn't have. He can recruit no doubt... but beyond recruiting I don't think much of him at all.
