Just learned that BG quarterback Omar Jacobs is expected to play tonight. He had a seperation of his non-throwing shoulder and has been out the past 3 games, during which BG has struggled to score. I think Miami wins this even if Peyton Manning was under center for BG, but Omar is supposed to play, FYI.

Thanks for the inside info. I think Bowling Green is worth a moneyline play with Jacobs playing. Their only losses with Jacobs were at Wisconsin (in that game I think they were only 3 point underdogs) and at Boise St, another tough place to play. Emotional lift for BG if he indeed plays.

I for one know what a shoulder separation feels like. Let me tell you that you don't recover from it in 2 weeks.

A good rule of thumb: Don't bet against such significant abrupt line movement. The only play now is the under.

As for the shoulder separation, as a physician, I know that the recovery time is very variable depending on the severity of the injury. The term "shoulder separation" is often used as a very general injury classification. Many athletes are able to return within 2 to 3 weeks, some take months. He is a big time athlete, probable NFL player. If he is not ready then he won't play. If he does, I think that tips the scale quite a bit since the line represents an uncertainty that he will play. Worth at least a play on BG plus the points.

The point drop is strange.

Since it was mentioned, it was generally thought that Jacobs would be better than his predecessor, Josh Harris. That was saying a lot because Harris was very, very good in college. Omar is probably as good as advertised but I don't know if he's a true pro prospect. He's got the size (Harris was a bit undersized at around 6"1"--which is at most because I'm 5'9" and have stood next to him on the field and he wasn't much bigger than me), but Jacobs has a weird throwing mothion. It's sort of similar to Philip Rivers in that it's not an overhand throw. It works for the MAC but I don't know if pro scouts are too impressed. I guess we'll see when he enters the draft.

BTW, I bet on the under for this game with an "if bet"; if I win this under the total winnings go to the under of the Pats/Saints game (46pts.).
