Default a rule that needs to be changed

You shouldn't be allowed to do an onside kick off of a safety. I could see situations where it'd be better to just run it out of the back of the end zone if you're down late in the game

I didn't even know you were allowed to, that's ridiculous. This rule is strictly for college though right? Not NFL too?

Nevermind, you just answered my question, that rule makes absolutely no sense at all.

I think you can do it in the pros too. I recall it being done a few years ago, unless they have changed the rule.

I do agree the rule should be changed. Onsides kicks only after TDs or FGs.

It is called a free kick. That means you can opt to kick off, punt, or even try a 90 yard FG. You are allowed to try an onside kick. There is nothing wrong with this. Why limit it. There is no good reason to do so at all. The team is already penalized by losing the 2 points. Why penalize them anymore? Why not give them the opportunity to recoupe?
