Default Arky / Ole Miss

What are your thoughts on this game? I'm thinking Arky +7.

I've got Arkansas. They have proven to be a pretty good team. Ole Miss is overrated.

We or they whatever anticipated big things from Ole Miss this year. Many thought they were on the verge of something really big. Hype was abound. Hasn't happened obviously. Exactly what the reason is might be hard to say. Certainly Snead hasn't performed up to snuff and that goes for when he's had time to obviously when he's been pressured. The talent is there, the coaching one would think is there but it's just not last year this year. Last year Ole' Miss was under the radar and then after beating Florida they had momentum. They carreid that momentum all the way through their bowl game. So naturally the hype was somewhat justified. Then they start the season and are unable to live up to the hype and all of a sudden they are overrated. True by the way.

From pruley a talent potential the nod would go to Ole' Miss. From a performance THIS year standpoint Arkansa get's the vote. Personally I think Arkansas get the win Saturday. If they can play up to the defensive performance they had last weekend against Florida they should win. Get to Snead and keep the pressure on.

I have waited and waited all week and have yet to get down on this game but if I end up playing it I will be on the Razorbacks.

Wal brings up a point that most people do not understand. Mississippi was NOT that good last year. Sure they beat Florida, and an overrated Texas Tech team that was down because they did not go to a BCS game, but Mississippi lost 4 games last year. They came into this year grossly overrated because of perception, not achievement. Now the bubble has burst. Arkansas is a team building for next year. These are the type of games that you lay the foundation for future success. Arkansas has covered 5 straight against Ole Miss, and I do not see any reason why they do not make it 6 straight this year. 6.5 points can still be had in Vegas.

I'm an Arkansas fan so take my comments with a grain of salt. Snead's slump is entirely due to Nutt's inability to coach QBs. The situation with Snead is very similar to the one Nutt had at the beginning of his career in Arkansas with QB Clint Stoerner. Stoerner was recruited and coached by the previous coaching staff. Nutt's first Arkansas team started off great, but for the rest of his tenure he could never get a passing game going and relied on smashmouth football.

Nutt's coaching staff simply does not know how to do the passing game. Markuson (offensive line coach for Ole Miss/Arkansas) employs an extremely simplistic pass protection scheme. They do not spend a lot of time on it in practice. All of this is showing up in Ole Miss' second year with piss poor pass protection and bad decisions by Snead.

The Ole Miss defense is better than Arkansas. But they do not have the deep, across the board talent like Bama or Florida to disrupt offenses play after play. Arkansas's much improved pass rush is going to be one of the biggest factors deciding this game. Arkansas has been OK against the run and shouldn't have much trouble containing McCluster and Ole Miss' mediocre run game.

Snead absolutely needs to have a good game for Ole Miss to win. I don't see it happening, especially after our performance against Tebow.
