    Talking Why I love Pittsburgh -5 (and why you should too)

    Pittsburgh -5 @ Rutgers

    Offensive Yardage Advantages

    * RY : Rutgers
    * RYPA : Pittsburgh
    * PY : Pittsburgh
    * PYPC : Pittsburgh

    Defensive Yardage Advantages:

    * RY : Rutgers
    * RYPA : Rutgers
    * PY : Pittsburgh
    * PYPC : Rutgers

    Overall Record Advantages:

    * Win - Loss : Pittsburgh
    * Point Differential : Pittsburgh
    * Schedule Strength : Pittsburgh

    Rutgers has an advantage in 4 areas. However, these advantages do not carry much weight (if not any) for 2 reasons :

    1) Rutger's schedule strength is the weakest in Division A
    2) There is a huge difference in schedule strength between Pittsburgh and Rutgers

    Pittsburgh has the stench of a Dr. Bob play. Went from -3.5 to -5.5 just before 6:00 PM ET today.

    Even Dr. Bob has to be right once in a very while

    Pittsburgh owns Rutgers and a spread of 5 is the closest thing to an early Christmas gift.

    I am expecting the spread to go over 7 by tomorrow

    Pittsburgh at -10 or better is a solid pick haha. Rutgers may as well just play in DII

    I really like Rutgers also. Be prepared Dave Wonstat(however you spell it) Is good for at least 2 boneheaded decisions a game. I generally like to watch the game I wager on, but this is one were I just look up the boxscore later.

    Glad I grabbed this before Bob backed it. Rutgers O line is trash and Pitt is a physical D. They can win on the road, and they will.

    Is this the only criteria of which you which you're basing your play?

    I'd start with something similar, yes, going into my Spreadsheet, but (though I'm not picking a side yet) one should look at some film to get a preview of specific matchups.

    No, this is not the only criteria I use to decide if a play is worth risking hard cash.

    Advantage alone means nothing if it is not a " quality " advantage. I look for the magnitude of the advantage and the conditions that led to it.

    I don't go into details because I am sure the majority is more interested in the play than the detailed explanation that led to it.

    Yeah that's true but historically, these 2 teams met 26 times.

    Pittsburgh won 19 times while Rutgers won only 7 times.

    That's almost a 3 to 1 ratio. Rutgers wins once when Pittsburgh wins 3 times.

    Granted that going back that far in time is irrelevant when it comes to predicting the outcome of this game, the ratio does show that winning against Rutgers is nothing new (nor impossible) to Pittsburgh.

    Euhhhhhh, make that 20 -7 once this game is over

    You could have asked the same question when Boise State met Fresno at Fresno. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe that the entire planet and just about every alien on this side of the galaxy was on Boise that night.

    Boise won and covered. Can Vegas be wrong ? Absolutely.
