    Default Mizzou/Nebraska

There are rumors swirling that Roy Helu Jr., Nebraska's starting running back, and arguably their best offensive player, has come down with the H1N1 virus. If that's the case, that could dramatically change the outcome of the game. I have a Rivals account and we are supposed to find out whether these rumors are true or not within the next few hours and I'll let you guys know when I find out. Just a heads up though.

Actually just found out that Helu did not practice today because of a "Sickness". Also apparently Cotton the back up TE and Hickman the starting Center were out with "Sickness" as well.

I live in Lincoln, NE and follow the Huskers constantly and consistently. From what I know no one has H1N1 on the team. Helu sat out of practice today because he was a little sick but it isn't anything to worry about. He will play and will be amazing as usual. Huskers will role on Thursday, and if the forecast for rainy weather is accurate, it only play to Nebraska's advantage. Nebraska has had a great week and a half of practice and will be 100% ready. Nebraska 24 - Mizzou 13. NEB 5-0 ATS.

I am a homer so take it as you will.

also from Lincoln here and Helu does not have H1N1 by any means. Huskers roll by 14, and I'm not even a husker fan

weather forecast it will be rain at game time. both Neb and Mizu have very good offense, however it seems to me, Nes have better defense and rushing game. I am leaning to Neb -3

Homer here too, but I've watched both teams like a hawk so far this year and I'm taking Nebraska -3. No questions about it. Just look at the way Missouri struggled against Nevada.

So, why is everybody on Nebraska?
In a line move such as this, open<3 .and. close=3.5 the dog has covered 17 of 29 times
Im thinking of taking Missouri +4

Yeah, I heard Bo Pelini has the flu, too, and says he won't make it:

Still on Nebraska - they will roll.

I just locked in Nebraska -3. Rainy game, Nebraska have better ground game and defense. Nebraska should roll.

Don't look at the rain as a huge factor. Unless it is down pooring like in the VT/Miami game, it won't affect the Offenses much. It actually hurts the D. The corners can't break as quickly with the wide outs because of the slick field. I have been burned on this idea plenty of times that it will affect a passing team. I am on Nebraska as well because I believe they are a much better team but I don't think the rain will be a HUGE factor.

Should be raining in Columbia shortly if it isnt already, its raining here and im pretty close. Suppose to rain til early afternoon but some of the forecast show it quitting before game time.

Just because a lot of people on here are on them doesnt mean EVERYONE is on them. Im seeing 61% on Nebraska, line has jumped a point since open. Seems like the line is doing exactly what it should be.

Same here... I'm on the Cornhuskers for $1,000. I said last week that I would fade the shit out of Mizzou from here on out and I think this line is a gift. Mizzou plays very soft football. Nebraska rolls tomorrow night

    gotta bet against soft football.

    my pick: Nebraska -3.

Nebraska has a stronger defense than Missouri not to mention that they have also played better competition than Mizzou. Mizzou hasn't played one impressive team all year until now and i believe this week, they won't be able to hang with a good team. Nebraska is 4-0 ATS this year and i think that streak continues.

Thursday night game are ALWAYS trap games for ranked teams ( in this case both teams are ranked). I am going with the home underdog +4 with Missouri Tigers upsetting the mighty Nebraska Cornhuskers. Many top ranked teams have fallen on Thursday night games and Nebraska is next to follow this funny trend.

I have already locked in Nebraska -3. However, the follows are stuffs that I seem be a negative factor for Nebraska

    1. Mizzou is under dog playing at home (It's always hard to go against home dog at prime time)
    2. The public is on Neb (Going with publicity is something I try to avoid oftenly)
    3. Mizzou was smashing Neb 52-17 at Neb (Hope that Neb won't choke cuz of this)
    4. Not sure if Roy Helu is 100% healthy (Roy is the most important weapon of Zac Lee)
    5. I did not see Pags play on Nebraska ( hehehe It always great if we have Pags approve, but good news is that he does not play on Mizzou either)

These worry me a bit but I still go with Nebraska since they have more a balance team and momentum. Go Huskers!!!

mizzou beat nebraska 52-17 with chase daniel and jeremy maclin against a bill callahan team? What does that have to do with anything.

Wrong. Pelini was coaching the huskers last year

Mizzou is a lot better then you guys give them credit for.

Blaine Gabbert is a 5 star player that has taken over for Daniel. The Tigers also got big time playmaker Demario Alexander back who missed all of last season with an injury.

Mizzou is playing at home. I would not put money on Nebraska in this game and I expect Mizzou to win straight up.

What has Nebraska done that's so impressive this season? Their wins have been against Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State, and Louis-Lafayette. Mizzou's wins against Illinois and Nevada are better than any of those wins.

I've been reviewing (to the best of my ability using the games I've managed to find and from the ones I have saved on my hard drive since '06) how Bo Pelini has fared as a coordinator and coach against the version of the (for lack of a better term) "read" spread that Gary Pinkel runs, and its mimics. I've seen some consistency, lest I've made erroneous comparisons, but I've also seen some chasms of execution on the Blackshirts' end.

I think they (Nebraska) will fare far better this year against Mizzou defensively even if Daniel, Coffman and Maclin would be lining up tomorrow night, but I don't think Zac Lee may pose that much more of a concern than people are expecting for Mizzou's defense than Joe Ganz did last season, so as to let Helu take control of this game.

Nebraska is starting to look like what Coach Bo fully expects from his defensive unit, but I do not see much of a deviation on the part of Mizzou being able to convert when necessary.

I don't envision a high-scoring affair, and I expect some futility in the red zone for both teams.
