Thumbs up Hawaii @ Louisiana Tech 9/30 IN-GAME Discussion

I'm thinking about taking Hawaii +4.5 tomorrow night, their offense looks to be more explosive and only reason i can see them being underdogs is because they're on the road... feel free to post opinions...

They have played 3 pathetic teams. Cent. Arkansas, Wash State and UNLV. They only beat Cent ark by 5 points after trailing 20-19 with less than 2 minutes. They have 2 defensive starters back and have given up 75 points, a 25 per game average playing shit competition.

La Tech returns their whole team from a squad that won a bowl game last year. They trailed Auburn 13-10 at half and 23-13 in the 4th before Auburn blew it open. It was actually a game (23-13) until 10 minutes left. Then they played Navy tough trailing 18-14 in the 4th before Navy opened it up. Both those games were on the road.

La Tech does seem to run out of gas and lose it in the 4th. They were outscored 14-0 by both Auburn and Navy in the 4th. They smacked Nichols State 48-13, but even in that game they gave up 10 in the 4th quarter.

La Tech has the better coach in Derek Dooley. Hawaii's Coach Schiano just took over last game of last season and hasnt shown much. I think coaching is even more of a factor when you consider both teams have 12 days off. La Tech also has the better QB in Ross Jenkins.

I think La Tech covers but I would call it a 55% play and I dont play 55% plays. So no action, but I think La Tech is favored for reasons other than being at home and the 4 is too low.

i just dont think louisiana tech has the defense to cover this spread. I already played Hawaii over 24 points....thinking of taking the +4.5

Hawaii seems like the better team, and is getting 4. L'Tech lost both road games, and won their last game at home, while Hawaii lost a hearbreaker at UNLV, by a point.

Hawaii seems like the pick, although i dont like it , and it can go either way. Gonna stay away from this one..

whoa slow down. who the hell is hawaii coach schiano??? his name is greg mcmackin and he was HC the entire last season. i dont think dooley is any better. and NO WAY in hell is jenkins a better QB than alexander. hawaii returns both starting DEs in this game. one of them will get drafted and has not played yet this season. to be honest i dont the hawaii D is any worse then last year. safeties are def better

I wen't larger than average on Louisiana Tech -3.5, but would play them up to about -6.

Not a very good start of the season for them, but LA Tech is still the better team in my power rankings.

I was going to make an uncomfortable bet on Louisiana but I decided to make a +175 bet on Hawaii based on your posts.

I took Hawaii when it was +3.5. I also like Hawaii to win this one outright.

People must be hammering La Tech, its up to -5.5 , anyone know something I dont know??

I like hawaii and hte over

55 divided by 2 is 27.5. on a 4.5 point spread, subtract 2.25. call it 25.5 . so if hawaii scores 25.5 points, you go at least 1 outta 2. I like the chances of hawaii getting 25.5 points in this contest.

    from collegefootballnews.com:

    Hawaii (2-1) at Louisiana Tech (1-2), 8:00 EST, Wednesday, November 30, ESPN2

Why to watch: All of a sudden, Hawaii is good again. Not BCS game good like a few years ago, but good enough to win games on the road on a regular basis, something the program has struggled with over the years. This is part three of a road trip that’s been relatively successful, beating Washington State and losing to UNLV in a fun shootout, but now that WAC play stars, the Warriors can make a huge statement considering Boise State and Fresno State have to make the trip to Honolulu. Louisiana Tech needs to make a stand, and it needs to make one now. A mega-disappointment so far considering the experience and talent returning, the Bulldogs got a win over Nicholls State, but that didn’t make up for the clunker of a loss to Navy. With three of the next four games away from Ruston, they can’t afford to give away any conference home games.
Why Hawaii might win: Louisiana Tech hasn’t shown enough offense to potentially keep up in any sort of firefight. Hanging up huge numbers against Nicholls State isn’t the same thing as producing against a real defense, and Hawaii can actually hit a little bit. There’s a decent pass rush and a stout front seven that doesn’t allow too many big running plays. Meanwhile, the offense leads the nation in passing and is sixth overall. Hawaii can make a comeback if needed; Louisiana Tech probably can’t.
Why Louisiana Tech might win: The team hasn’t played up to its talent level yet, but now it’s home. The pass rush is far, far better than it showed over the first three games, and the numbers (Tech is 115th in the nation in sacks) are deceiving. Auburn ran on the Bulldogs in the opener, and Navy and Nicholls State only run. The defensive line should get to Hawaii QB Greg Alexander and force him to hurry, while the secondary should be able to come up with a few picks if it doesn’t take too many crazy chances. Hawaii will get its yards, but the opportunities will be there to change the game.
Who to watch: The Hawaii defensive line gets a big boost with the return of star defensive end John Fonoti. The pass rush hasn’t been bad so far, but Fonoti, who returns from a knee problem, adds a major piece to the puzzle to pressure a Louisiana Tech passing game that needs time to operate. Tech QB Ross Jenkins threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns against Nicholls State, and if Alexander and the Hawaii offense start to hum, he’ll have to come up with a nice night in the face of a steady pass rush.
What will happen: Alexander has been on fire. He’s in command of the offense and he’ll push and stretch the Louisiana Tech defense all night long. Jenkins will play well, but not well enough as the Warriors will put up 350+ passing yards and Tech won’t be able to keep up late.
CFN Prediction: Hawaii 34 … Louisiana Tech 30 ... Line: Louisiana Tech -5
Must See Rating: (Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami 5 … The Jay Leno Show 1) … 2

I went with the over...55 points.

Even though I promised myself never to make bets like this.

Both of Hawaiis games have been on the over, and Lousiana had 1 game go over.

Either way, I should quit making foolish bets like this.
