Default How Good is West Virginia?

I've been trying to figure this out since Saturday. What sort of team is West Virginia? Just a good team or a GREAT team beaten by a lucky Auburn team?

WVU is definitely NOT a GREAT team... Definitely NOT. Auburn is average at best right now but under the radar big time. I expect them to lose to almost every team in the SECW except maybe Mississippi State. WVU has plenty of holes right now.

See that's how I see it too. This game was very similar to the Florida/Ole Miss game last year. I mean how good of a team do you have to be to take 6 turnovers and win a game? Just hearing a lot of smack talk from people who think that Auburn is ready to run the table this season and I just can't get them to see that it wasn't like they beat a ranked team. WVU had them down and Devine was making them his bitch pretty badly. When you throw the ball twice to the opposing team it's just hard for even mildly talented runners do something with that to make points out of it.

Homer here.... But still Mac didnt watch this game my friend... 6 turnovers lost this for WVU.... "Not Great Team" is ok statement, but not realizing that WVU gave this game away completely shows that you either didnt watch game or saw and didnt pay attention.... Two WVU turnovers were within A.U.'s redzone both of which WV had chance to go up 28-10..... Running game was dominated by WVU.....Passing game was dominated by WVU... Return Yards was dominated by WVU....AU gets 24 points off turnovers....Auburn's feared running game was worthless against tight WVU D (who were missing their 2 stars to injury)......I have watched the game 3 times and see all the pitiful mistakes made....6 TURNOVERS!!!!!

Auburns crazy crowd 80,000 deep were silent for 20 minutes in the first half...It was that kind of blowout!!!! and then turnover turnover turnover.... Now agreed a turnover is a part of the game and is a game changer and I wish Auburn well this season, but please Please!! watch this game if you want to make an opinion on this team!..... In all honesty I would see WVU winning 8 out of 10 of these games if it would be played over.... A loss like that hurts but moving on......

Anyhow WVU is dangerous this year and a strong competitor for B.E. crown.....

In my honest opinion this is a much more complete team than last years 9-4 bowl winning team (with or without Pat White)..... Next 5 games are Colorado, UCONN, South Fla (Groethe out for year), Marshall, Louisville...... Can you say 7-1 ?????

That's what I kept seeing too. Just making sure there wasn't something I wasn't seing other than the obvious. Just Auburn fans and their Auburn colored glasses they keep looking through is what I keep hearing on our sports talk shows here this week.

Glad you brought up the topic!!! Ive been wanting to vent about this loss for 3-4 days.... BTW Nick Saban Grew up in my hometown of Fairmont (also home to Mary Lou Retton and Rich Rodriguez ) so I usually root for the Tide.....

Wvu will go 10-1 this year... They are a good team just had a bad night.. Like everyone had said without the 6 turnovers we kill Auburn.. Auburn will have trouble the rest of the year imo, But they did win the game and my hat goes off to them.. But don't be surprised if you see the old mountaineers in another BCS bowl game.. Hopefully against VT

Auburn is not overrated !! I have the Auburn and Alabama game as an upset. Along with South Carolina over Ole Miss.

PhsychoQ, Auburn caused those turnovers. You have to give them credit. People always say they would have won if they wouldn't have turned the ball over but causing turnovers is just as
important as scoring touchdowns .

No doubt you are right that causing turnovers is just as important as scoring touchdowns, but a good team committing six turnovers against an average-to-decent team tells us that:

1: The average-to-good team played a whale of a ballgame. Congrats!
2: Compared to their standard performance history, the good team underperformed and threw away the game.

Three or four turnovers is a bad game. Six turnovers is an anomaly. WVU won't turn it over six times in one game again this season and probably won't turn it over four or five times in one game, either.

They're a very good team. Not great, not coached exceptionally well, but a very good team.

In my opinion, West Virginia will win The Big East and play in a BCS Bowl.

Good points about WVU, they played bad so do not let that fool you. I think they are a very good team with an explosive running game.

Wow everyone is saying Auburn was "lucky" to win the WV game. Well, I believe Auburn's defense did create some of those turnovers.

And Auburn is in their FIRST year of implementing the chaotic offense that they have. Three games into the young season and they rank 11th in the nation in scoring with 42.3 points a game.

If this game was won by a few points, maybe Auburn got "lucky". But they won by 11 points! I never heard of a team getting "lucky" on 6 turnovers either. C'mon, how can that be a reason why WV is better?? Turnovers is a BIG part of the game, hence teams with the highest turnover margin's every year usually having the better records.

It will be the game of the year in The Big East. Your Bearcats have a great shot too. I really like Cincinnati this year.

5 interceptions were thrown by you guys QB's.

Now this is my question. If West Virginia offense was playing on the field by themselves with no defense on the field would they have still thrown the INT's ?? No. The reason is because there were no defense on the field. But since a defense was on the field which was Auburn defense they CAUGHT 5 INTERCEPTIONS. I don't care how they caught them. How it was thrown, it was still 5 INT'S, in which the defense forced from BEING ON THE FIELD.

West Virginia is very good, Snow Shoe Mountain is a great place to visit and Morgantown is a cool college town to visit.
Oh, the football team ain't to shabby either.

People act like top 5 teams can't be beat. If that's the case than why play the game?

Auburn is not back and they are average. I did see the game and they should have lost the game. A lot of Auburn fans are praising Chizik like he's the 2nd coming of Jesus. They will be brought down to earth real soon once they get lit up in the SECW division.

WVU isn't world beaters as well and I think they lose to Cinci badly and probably to Rutger's and Uconn. I'm not sold on them as well because I don't trust their boring coach.
