I was a kid stationed thirty miles east of Columbia from 1970 to 1973 when South Carolina raised so much hell because Paul Dietzel claimed the ACC's 800 rule kept them from winning football games. I saw a billboard near Carolina Coliseum that read "Go Bonnies, Beat State" when they hosted the NCAA East regional. The only fight that Marquette, Maryland, North Carolina and Duke got into was with South Carolina but WIS-TV and The State newspaper assured everyone that it was always the other team's fault. Just because South Carolina got into four fights, they were really, ever so peaceful. Why, John Roche was a dead lock certainty to win the Nobel Peace Prize. I opened The State, it literally seemed, every morning to read an attack on Duke, NC State or UNC. I assume they didn't know Wake Forest was a North Carolina team too. To top it all off, my shop chief was a South Carolina fan from Spartanburg who to this day would know who I am if he read this, and we argued all the time. About sports, that is. I didn't dislike him. But DAMN!! To this day, I can't help it, I despise South Carolina.

That being said, however, I don't bet my heart and I honestly think South Carolina will win this game straight up. I wont bet it 'till Thursday but I'm pretty sure I'll be on the Gamecocks.
