Another play I flat out LOVE - VANDERBILT + 15
The linesmakers have made the line way to huge again.
Vanderbilt is a very good team that few know about. This team returns 9 starters on Offense and 9 starters on Defense from a team that was actually very good last year.
Last year, the commodores started the season 5-0 before 2 key injuries hurt the team badly and they finshed 7-6. Both of those injured players are back. Most notably, wide reciever Chris Reinert. But they have lost Defensive End Steve Stone for a while.
A 7-6 record may not look that impressive at first, but the Commodores played a mad schedule. Not 1 cupcake. They beat Miami ( OH), S Carolina, Rice, Auburn, Kentucky, Boston College, and Mississippi at Mississippi. Their Losses, were for the most part to very good teams. They lost to Georgia, Florida, Mississippi State, Wake Forest, Tennessee, and Duke ( yeah Duke sucks).
The only team that blew Vandy out all year was Florida. The only team to beat them by 15 all year last year was Florida. The defense return 9 starters, and this defense gave up only 19 points per game last year. That was against a very good schedule. Not counting the Florida game, Vandy only allowed 17 points per game. To me, its hard for a team that only gave up 17 points per game to be a 15 point underdog.
Now LSU. Why in the world is LSU ranked in the top 10 ? Oh I know why, because they were real good 10 years ago. They even played for the championship a few times. But wait a minute, this team played a weaker schedule than LSU last year and finished 7-5. That record was padded with wins over Appalachian State and North Texas Tulane and Troy ( who they barely beat ). Take the garbage teams out and LSU won 3 games.
Vandy won at Mississippi last year, LSU got to play Mississippi in Baton Rouge - and Lost by 18 points. 5 teams scored 30+ on LSU. Only 1 team Scored over 27 on Vandy - The eventual National Champs. Now last week, LSU played one of the worst teams in College Football last year, the winless Washington Huskies. Well, The Huskies only lost by 8 to LSU - and they should have won the game. 5 times in the red zone and the get 12 points.
Vandy wont shoot itself in the foot every time it gets a chance. LSU only beats Washington by 8 and then comes back as a 15 point favorite over a very game, very underrated Vandy team. This game has upset written all over it. I think Vandy could very well win this game straight up. But I will take the 15 points and thats a winner. LSU will be lucky to win this game, they arent going to cover by 15.

totally agree Hova. Anything can happen, thats why we limit the bet. But this is a great spot for a good size bet. Vanderbilt is a really good team that is flying under the radar, and LSU is very overrated. I actually like this play better than my other play this weekend.
Good luck.

Something else too. In the USA today sports section today there is a story about how swine flu is hitting a lot of teams badly. In names a few teams that have reported that they have a few players with flulike symptoms. LSU was named as one of those teams.

I would'nt get to caught up in the hype of how LSU played last weekend. The reason is because Les Miles came into that game with a gameplan of not showing to much. They only passed the ball 17 times, which is telling me that he felt as if he can just run the ball and beat them. The plan was not to show a lot but lets just get out of here by running the ball and not showing to much on national telivision to Ole Miss, Alabama and Florida. And they still scored over 30. If you guys think LSU has no talent and think that there's no way they can beat Vandy by 15 you have to be fooling yourselves. Also another way you can tell he was'nt trying to show to much is because they did'nt even play there BIG TIME FRESHMAN stud Russel Shepard in the wildcat. Les Miles did not want to show the SEC that package just yet. I can see LSU covering that 15 EASILY Saturday. If John Chavis can get that defensive scheme together. But like Miles said today when he spoke to the media, he said his defense will be improved this weekend they came into that game not knowing what Sarkesian was going to do, because they did'nt have tape on a Sarkesian team. He said, all they did was watch USC tape and hopefully he'll run the same plays from his USC days.

But I can honestly see why you'll take those points off of LSU performance against Washington. But LSU at Death Valley first home game is a no no when it come to a dog. LSU could beat them by 30 and I would'nt be suprise with the talent they have. I do expect LSU to open up the offense this week as SEC play begin.

I understand that they didnt air it out, but charles scott got nowhere running and the biggest problem was the defense. They made Locker look like tebow. I mean come on washington ran all over them, they got around the corners with ease.

Never take advice from a fan....... If they are saving their playbook for Vanderbilt then they will have a LONG SEC campaign.
The TV argument is such a moot point. If there is any merit to the game ESPN360 or some regional sports network will carry it. Being a Nationally televised game matters nil.

I secretly like Vanderbilt with the points. I think they are a team on the rise. Not ready yet to be among the elite teams in the SEC they certainly are a team that no-one can take lightly. Don't expect LSU thinks lightly of them either and fully expect the Tigers will hold nothing back in this game. Do however think Vanderbilt is capable of hanging around playing tough and keeping this one within 7-10 points.
Also like your North Texas play. Wanted them last week and chickened out and wanted to put them on my post this week but again I chickened out. They could surprise a few teams before one takes them seriously.

JMU you'll be suprise how these coaches think. They close practice but like you say people will see the plays later. That's how coaches think. Les Miles didn't show the SEC the new wildcat formation that ESPN and the nation been waiting for out of Russel Shepard.

WOW the reasoning in here is way way way off...particularly the guy who started this thread. Those are your arguments for why Vandy is the play? LMAO....re-read what you wrote...you are under the impression that Vandy is better than or even equal to LSU. They arent, not in ANY phase of the game, not in talent, not in coaching....and not in the home field advantage aspect.
Locker is a beast from Washington...get that straight first. he is one of the better QBs in all of the land...you obviously dont know that. WASH scored on the last play of the game a TD... LSU was really up by 15...which isnt too shabby playing in WASH in their home opener with their new coach and their star player returning from injury and the home opener vs and SEC team atmosphere.
LSU is going to seriously score at will vs Vandy, and with the home crowd all over vandy, I dont see Vandy mustering up more than 21 points... MAXIMUM. LSU will drop 40 on Vandy.
Your Ole Miss argument... was meaningless. In fact it was pathetic and think about what you were saying man.... it meant nothing! It was one game last year from a common opponet.
LSU ranked high becasue their team was EXTREMELY YOUNG and now they are more mature...not to mention TOP 3 talent in all of CFB...They are ELITE at recruiting...number one recruiting class last year in case you missed that...they are always good at that. They have a damn good off coordinator (oregons old one) and Def Coordinator ( Tenn's old one) They have the Mad Hatter in Les Miles as their Coach. Playing in Tiger Stadium is a HUGE advantage to them. Also, LSU RAPED the best ACC Team ( GEORGIA TECH0 last year in the peach bowl... It was in Atlanta man....and it was a MASSACRE. LSU's true fresh QB had his 2nd or 3rd start of the season and he played great ....he only getting better..... these are all reasons LSU started out in the top 10....actually number 11 but still. Use your head, not your hate for LSU.

Just my opinion.
And I dont hate LSU. Even though I do believe they are overrated. You're right, they will probably win but I dont see them covering 15. I still love Vandy alot.
And as for everything else you said, well I heard the same comments about my 17 1/2 dog pick last week. You know, my 17 1/2 point underdog pick who WON the game outright, and never trailed by a single point for a single second in the entire game.
Good Luck with your plays.

I think this will be a tough game for Vandy. They won't be able to keep up with LSU at home. The defense will play 10x better Saturday due to the fact they have tape on Vandy. They didn't have tape on Washington with a Sarkesian scheme. This is SEC play and I expect this offense to explode. Vandy don't have the athletes to keep up. But that's my reasoning. I think LSU by 20+

Being an SEC fan our Mission Statement is now and forever will be DEFENSE shouldn't the offense have exploded against an offense first conference like Washington last week?
LSU is very capable and agreeably talented and last week did hold lot's of unknown's and new experiences but Vanderbilt is a very good (not elite) defensive team and can very well keep this game within the number.

Do yourself a favor here and take Vandy +14.5
LSU is closer to a middle of the pack SEC team than a national champion. As long as Vandy can limit Jefferson-to-Toliver, they have a chance to pull the outright upset. This LSU squad is WAY overrated. Take advantage in the first two weeks of the season before everyone else realizes it.

Yes I think it should have but thats soley on the play calling. Miles wanted to just run the ball last week against Washington. His plan was not to be agressive on offense. They had a vanilla game plan by just running the ball up the gut. Did you watch the game ? If you did you can clearly see what I'm talking about. They did not for one time pass the ball deep. They only through the ball 17 times ! They also did'nt play True Freshman Russel Sheppard. Miles did'nt want to show that new package of there offense just yet. Miles stated today that they will run that new package this week against Vandy, with the #1 athlete in the nation Russel Shepard. Miles is very very cautious at what he do. If he dont have to show what he have he wont. He's totally the opposite of Urban Meyer. Meyer will call all his plays against a lower level team. Not Miles, he's a coach that will just run the ball if he can on a lower level school.

Jefferson to Toliver ?? That's how I know you dont know to much about this team What about Lafell ? That's were you mistaken, LSU has talent all over the field. If they shut down Tolliver they have the best WR in the SEC in Brandon Lafell.
Anyone who follows the SEC knows that LSU and Florida has the best talent in the SEC. But like I say if you can soley say go off of one performance last week that LSU is not that good than I guess. But like I say I can easily see a 20+ point victory by LSU. And I will bump this thread Saturday night. For all the people that think LSU has a middle of the pack type SEC team.
And also if you people want to talk about 1st performances lets do it. Florida defense gave up over 200 yards in the 1st half to Charleston Southern that is concern to many gator fans(LSU DEFENSE GAVE UP OVER 200 YARDS ALSO IN THE 1ST HALF). Also Florida offense is not as good as last year. You can tell the absence of Harvin and Murphy is gone. The gators need more recievers. AND THIS ALSO WAS STATED FROM A GATOR FAN, SO IT'S JUST NOT ME THATS SAYING THIS.

ZBOIZ I don't disagree that the total offense was not on display last week. I am sure there is plenty yet seen talent and plays in that offense of LSU.
I still contend until the game proves otherwise that Vanderbilt while certainly outmatched on the offensive side of the ball has a defense that can keep this game close.
I will say this though to be fair. If a couple things go wrong ie. turnover or special team disater this game could get out of reach. Not blowout out of reach but enough of a gap that a less than explossive offense like Vandy can overcome.
I might be looking at this game weekend all wrong but I like all three SEC vs SEC dogs this weekend to cover. Already on South Carolina like but haven't played Vandy and I also think that even though Auburn has better offensive abilities this year that Miss St will be in that game till the bitter end with an outside shot at winning.

I watched Mississippi St last week and they are absolutely horrible. Dan Mullens was on a local radio station here in Baton Rouge and he asked one of our radio broadcasters do they want to try out for WR. Yea he was joking but when I seen that game last weekend I noticed that he was'nt kidding. They have no WR talent there in Starksville for the spread offense. They look bad!! Now the defense is ok, but I dont know were the offense will come from. Remember that team that Dan Mullens took is a team that is not built for the spread, but built for power football.

They certainly have problems with the offense but I do think that this game will stay within 10 points so that gives some cushion. Auburn won but they didn't really impress anyone either. While improved on offense there were signs that they still will struggle this season.
I'll never say I am an expert and I will certainly never tell anyone that I am right and they should follow my advice. I like others have my opinions on games and what I have seen, nothing more, nothing less.
Tell ya what though. Just to have something to do I'll wager 50 SBR points and take South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Mis St plus the respective points. Either goes 2-1 or better gets the win.
