    Default NC State VS. SCarolina

What a great way to kick off the college football season. Who is everyone taking in this matchup? I am pretty sure I am backing SCarolina with the points but I haven't made my mind up yet. Let's get some discussion going on for this game.

I'm like SCarolina as well but dont have the balls to pull the trigger with them.

All time series is at: 26-26-4. These 2 teams met at last yrs opener, SC crushing NCST 34-0. SC has no great deal of returning talent, and has had the worst running attack in the SEC the last 2 seasons. The team scored a total of 30 pts the last 3 games of 08.Clearly the burden to generate pts falls on the shoulders of Stephen Garcia Despite the fact that Steve Spurrier is entering his 5th season as HC at So Carolina the program remains mediocre by SEC standards.

Few expected the results that NCST would get at the QB position in 08,but Freshman Russell Wilson burst on the scene. en route to becoming the 1st freshman ever to earn 1st team ACC honors at QB position. He led the conf. in pass eff.
(133.93),total off.(213ypg), threw for 1955yds, 17 TD's against 1 interception. Now enters the season having thrown 249 consecutive passes w/o an interception. His 2 top WR are back in top form...jr. Owen Spencer (31 rec,691 yds,5TD) and Jarvis Williams (26 recp,432yds,4TD) Sr Toney Baker returns at the TB position,we'll see how he responds after missing last 2 seasons w/knee injury.
Last yrs Defense struggled at times and gave up tons of yards, but with 7 starters returning things are looking up for this side of the football.
This game will be close but i expect the Wolfpack to come out on top this time. Wilson is a special player who will only get better with experience.

    Im on NCST -3

Steve Spurrier has had this team 5 years now and I think this year he will show what he can really do for a program. SC's QB is also a 3 year veteran of the SC offense and this maybe his time to have a breakout year. Also I am thinking the SEC just has way more talent than the ACC. I am still going to take SC with the points but I think they may even win this game.

Just because SC is SEC....Come ooonnn MAN!!!!

Stephen Garcia is the obvious choice under center, last yr the unproven signal caller completed 53% of his passes for 832 yds,6TD's,8 Int...contributing to the fact that SC QB's threw more interceptions (27) more than any other team in the naton.
Garcia has the athleticism to make things happen with his legs...but considering the team rushed for only 94 yds per game, he clearly needs help from the RB's. Of course there are no RB's coming back w/ more than 200 career rushing yds.
O'Brien has his team ready!! Wilson is a special player and the motivation of last yrs rout..and being home...means trouble for the "ole ball coach" Good luck though

    GO WOLFPACK

the only way to go here imo is nc state minus the pts or just dont bet the gm. s. carolina's qb's have sucked the past 2 yrs and nothing makes me think theyll change. here is a spot where revenge might actually mean something because the better team that got whacked last season is at home and on natl tv at night

well SC can't get any worse from last year. Ever heard of the phrase " dont bet on bad qb's?". Well stay away from garcia cause he is trash, sorry sc fans.

Saw Wilson play in person a couple of times last year - he's the real deal.

Garcia will be much improved this year than from last year.. Still not great, but much improved.. And with Giles & Sherman running, it should open up our offence and give us more options than in previous years.. I have a feeling people will be surprised by Garcia this year..

NCST..They finished strong last year with USC..limping into a bowl game and getting beat(crushed) by Iowa. Garcia hasn't had a good playing game since he has been at USC. The pressure falls on his shoulders this year with no sound back to cover if he starts a slid in this game. NCST lost the starting QB early in the game last year, Causing the back up to come in who couldn't handle the pressue. Their third string QB came in and moved the team to look impressive with what they had last year. NCST is at home and they want to get this win. I don't see USC winning this game with the points. NCST 24-10
