Talking Cannot do Cal -21.5 v. Maryland

    Bay Area correspondent here.

Cal never really blows anyone out, not counting Washington State. Best is great but still think it will take a while for Riley and receivers to gel. Md. apparently has a good ball control offense and senior quarterback. It's also easier to come west than go east. I don't think a night game west coast will be a huge factor, and Cal is not an especially tough place to play. Cal wins but I just can't see a Tedford team running it up.

What do you guys know about Maryland?

Cal may be riding the hype machine to a big line a little here. Maryland is a lot faster than you think

I don't know a lot about Maryland. Did they lose a lot of players? QB (Turner)?

21.5 seems like a lot of points to be giving up. You may want to pull the trigger the other way.

I'm on Maryland for a little. If they show up at all, they should keep it within 21. But they do occasionally not show up. Still, I wouldn't put CAL on a seperate level from most of the ACC teams Maryland plays every year, and they rarely lose by more than 21; They lost by 21 to WVA in both 06 and 07(when WVA was having good years), 22 to BC in 06, and then blown out by UVA and Florida St last year.

No way Cal blows out Maryland. I'll take Maryland -21.5 for 22 points. Any taker?

I go to a lot of Cal games. It is just not the Tedford/Cal way to really lay the wood to a team. Cal's receivers still have to synch with qb Riley, some questions on the Cal DL line and linebacking corp. Cal does have a great secondary and possibly the best punter in the land, but I can't see the 22-point Cal win. It is much harder to go East and play a morning game than come west and play a night game. Weather should be perfect. Jahvid Best is the real deal though.

21.5 is a lot to give for an untested team.. Small play on Md..

    More like 35 14.

I say the spread is right where it should be this game is a coin flip at best. If the line moves a few points either way it may be a small play. there is much better value to be had during the ncaa.
