Thoughts. I like the mountainers to roll by 3+TD's. Anyone else and why??/

I myself am too enthused about this game at all. I guess if i had to play it though, I'd take my chances with Maryland +16.

This still is a rivalry game.

My initial reaction on this concerns Maryland: it seems to me that Friedgen really has had a tough time out of the gate in recent years. With Maryland, it seems like they get exponentially better about the 5th game and later. I think the WVU backers are correct on this one. I haven't capped it yet but my initial thought is WVU and lay the wood.

This could be a tough game to call as both teams seem to really get up for this game. Here is some information I have found:

1.) "The two schools have played every year since 1980, and the all-time series is tied at 21-21-2."

2.) "The Mountaineers have won two straight games over the Terrapins, and used a 24-point fourth-quarter comeback to defeat them 31-19 last season. They have not won three in a row against their ACC rival since 1996-98."

I am leaning towards Maryland at this point becuase I think they can cover with the ponts.

I was tempted to buy WVA @ -14 should've followed my instincts and pulled the trigger. Hindsight's 20/20. I'll wait and try to catch a good price on Md @ +17.5 Seems like the sharps & squares and their mothers are all lined up on WVA.

That game brings back painful memories... ouch!! I had MD as a dog in that game. I believe that was a Thurs or Fri night game as well.

* I'm glad I caught this thread. I just checked pinny and took MD +17.5 -112. I can't believe this total hasn't climbed yet. Bought the over as well 47 -102 as I'm sure this will climb by gametime.

pags....my only concern with WV is the fact they haven't played anyone good yet....so their offensive numbers to me are inflated. Add to the fact that WV and Maryland is a rivalry game that both teams get up for....well it's hard to pass on the points. WV has played Marshall and Eastern Washington (AA team)...I think any decent team would have put up similar numbers against those teams but I wouldn't call that team hot. Maryland has also played William & Mary (AA team) and Midd Tenn and each of those teams scored points on Maryland...so Marylands defense might not be all that good. Maryland is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 against WV and they have gone over the total in 4 out of last 5. I could see a parlay of Maryland/Over or even a teaser of WV/over.....I just think 16 1/2 or more points is a lot to give Maryland in a heated game like this.....just my thoughts.

I wouldn't say that Marshall's terrible...E. Washington is definitely a weak team, but they took out their starters in the 2nd quarter in that one...these guys are just a freight train right now, and to me you either bet on them or don't bet their games...

On paper this is a blowout win for the Mt.eers. But I see the Terps winning this outright in a shocker. Don't go just by the stats from the first 2 games this season - neither team showed much of their playbook. These teams absolutely go at it and "logic" goes out the door.

No doubt MD can look pretty sucky at times but they can't be depended upon to stink it up when you expect them to (does that make sense?). Upset looming.

Guys after looking over the depths charts I am going ot have to go with Maryland plus the points. Ill be counting on Maryland having pride and not wanting to get there ass kicked up and down the field on national tv. Nothing crazy..just 1 unit or so. I just hope the public has that memory of the sugar bowl in there minds and moves this line another point.

Alright after looking at this game from a bunch of angles I decided to pass. I sold off my bets. Lost some juice on my MD bet but got a nice looking middle @ 47 & 50.5.

I agree w/ the previous poster. It's all about WVa running game and how well MD's D can contain it. In their last matchup WVa ran for 300 yds vs 50 yds for MD. If the same thing happens in this game, you'll see the lop-sided score that everyone expects.

Another thing that caught my attention, for trend followers, going back to last year WVa has covered eight games in a row. Really quite remarkable.
