    Default Turner Gill to Auburn?

Was listening to ESPN radio on my way home from work this evening and they said that Turner Gill, who has done such a great job at Buffalo, is on the short list for the Auburn job.

Now, I agree that Gill has done an incredible job at UB winning the MAC title. And I have no particular heart-burn over hiim being on the short list of the Auburn job.

My question is: Does anyone seriously think that Turner Gill is a significant upgrade to Tommy Tuberville?

Gill already stated that he's staying at Buffalo.

    Dan,
I hadn't heard that, but I've been really busy at work...the only time I heard the radio all day was on my way home.

Now, I'm not saying that Gill is lying, but he wouldn't be the first coach to say I'm staying and then leave when there was enough money put on the table.

But specifically, I was asking if it was starting to dawn on the people who forced out TT at Auburn that they fired a pretty darn good coach, and the prospects for getting someone better weren't looking too good? Or if they just wanted TT gone and damn the torpedoes full speed ahead?? Your thoughts????

A fool? Having to compete each year against, Saban, Nutt, Petrino, Miles, and Reicht (I don't know if I spelled thos correctly or not and really don't care)?

    Welcome to SEC football!!

He need to get his AZZ down here and take the challenge. Next year is a great year because Alabama will be rebuilding. Who will be there QB?? They will loose a lot of key players. Also Alabama will loose two possible 1st round Olinemens and probably will loose Mt. Cody. Rich also will be loosing both Stafford and Moreno. It's better to join this year than later. Now Petrino have a work to do. And Miles also have work to do replacing a D'Cordinator.

I think Next year is the year to join

They no longer play Florida every year. Those are the ones whoever coaches Auburn has to face each year.

I will miss Mt. Cody. But I don't blame any junior with a decent shot if this is the last year without a rookie salary cap. As for Bama's QB, whoever that was that was our backup and then this guy named Star Jackson who was redshirted this year. I am ready to see Star and Julio on the same field.

Gill would be a more logical choice at Syracuse. Same area, better conference (than MAC), experience rebuilding a team from ashes, New York media, easier conference to compete.

If I was Gill I would take the challenge of being a SEC coach.

Auburn is NOT ready for Gill. I live here and I know it. He will not get the full support that other candidates may receive as far as budgets and facilities. Maybe in the near future, but not now. Auburn is using Gill for recruiting purposes only to stave off the Alabama machine that is getting all of the good players now.

Antwan Caldwell will by far be missed more than any of the other seniors and if Andre Smith gos pro then the Oline, Bamas biggest strength this year will be a big ? mark .JMO

Ok here is the REAL scoop. If you REALLY want to know. Yes Turner Gill interviewed at Auburn. He wont get the job. Auburn is NOT going to hire a black coach.... but they covered their butt by interviewing Gill. Like already stated Gill may end up taking the Syracuse job. Gill has done an AMAZING job at UB. Turner Gill is out getting all the experience he can because he will be the next Nebraska coach. HOPEFULLY Pelini will be in Nebraska for a long time. BUT if he does get fired....... or if he ends up getting the job in Ohio St.... then Gill will be the next Husker coach.

I am so glad Auburn did not hire Gill. I think the state would still be on fire.

Tressell isnt going anywhere, he is a god in Columbus! If you think the Auburn alumni would freak if they hired Gill, the OSU alumni would implode if they fired Tressel and brought in Pelini? Pelini for Tressel? Thats F'N hilarious.....Where did you come up with that garbage?

Did I say that would happen next year? NO! I said "if he ends up getting the job in Ohio St". The ONLY reason Pelini will ever leave Nebraska is IF the job at Ohio St ever opens up. I'm talking 10, 15, 20 years from now.
