South lake tahoe is heaven... I can't sum it up better than that. I will be retiring there.

Vegas strip and downtown areas are a fuking joke..............it's party central and for kiddies.

The local places are where its at........like the Stations, The M, Orleans, South Point, Red Rock, Sams Town, etc., etc.

Vegas is a shadow of its former self, very sad.

I like Laughlin, it's for gambling period, no shows, no glitter, no fluff, just gambling think there are 8-9 casinos there. Has single deck blackjack. Less distractions.

Tony S. Lake Tahoe is on CA. NEV. border. 2 hrs east of Sacramento on Hwy 50. Or if you reside on east coast you can fly to Reno and either rent a car for 50 min.drive to the LAKE or take a bus that leaves about every 3 hrs. Tony it is perfect for the next 2 months. For golfers Edgewood is a must- It is right behind Harveys casino- on the Lake- also take the tram to the top of Heavenly Valley. If you need assistance tell me --the least I can do. Take care and God bless.

Agree with the guys that said S. Lake Tahoe.

My grand parents had a cabin there (Tahoe Keys for being familiar with the area) when I was growing up and it is beautiful. The casinos there are not as nice, fancy, and opulent like in Vegas, but they do get the job done. Most have sports books as well. The surrounding peaceful environment of the lake and the mountains makes gambling much less stressful, imo.

If you ever do plan to go there, Tony, let me know- I have friends with cabins that I would be happy to help you and your family use.

Mexican sportsbook - Caliente, some are in 'not so good' places, others are in city centers and are very nice.

hahaha, you have been there? when i am in san diego i run across the border (literally) there are a few in tijuana, it sounds dangerous but there is one literally within footsteps of the border, you don't need to go more than 500 feet into mexico the entire trip. its a big tourist area it's on lockdown, never had any problems.

There are some stranger characters hanging around, mostly americans. i remember this one big black guy there (not being racist, but he was 6-7 about 350 and looked very rough), he was there 24/7, trying to shake people down. one time i was there, i won big and just wanted to go back, problem was that it was sunday evening and all the weekend traffic was coming back, the wait to cross was about 2 hours...he told me he has some "medical card" and he gets to cut the line and bring a visitor. i didnt know what the hell he was talking about but he said he'd do it for me (didnt ask for $ although he expcted some im sure), so i told him id pay him $20 if he got me across. so he says he'll take me and we go straight to the front of the line (literally walk past everyone like we own the place) and no one said a word. it was unreal.
