I noticed the similarity too, especially in how Edgar mixed up his standup and takedowns to keep Penn guessing.

Penn will not fight again, IMO. If he does it will be a rematch against Gomi, but I think he will retire.

I've had similar thoughts about this fight. The problem is, when Frankie's unreal cardio comes into play, will he already be down 3 (or even 4) rounds to none? He's not shown himself to be a big finisher. Hopefully he's improved enough to the point where he'll be able to stuff takedowns from Gray, and even put him on his back throughout the fight. I'd like to finally jump on this money train known as Frankie Edgar. Dude is a dog again for this fight. No respect.

Edgar has really improved his game. I don't know if Maynard will be able to take him down and hold him there. The stand up Edgar will dominate and he should be able to win later rounds. Using Edgar's strategy against BJ Penn it will be very hard for Maynard to get takedowns. He moves in and out with his striking, which is the complete opposite of what Florian was used to. Maynard made Florian chase him and Florian wasn't ready for that. This strategy would fall right into Edgar's game plan. In and out quickly. Maynard can just go for takedowns all night and may be able to win with them, but if Edgar keeps good movement it's going to become very difficult. Also if Maynard starts losing on the feet he could start fighting very predictable and Edgar can start getting takedowns. What we know for sure is that Edgar has better cardio, better stand up and a better ground game. Maynard only has better takedowns and this might not even be guaranteed with what we've seen from Edgar and Edgar's new fighting style.
